Valerie shares how childhood sexual abuse and assault left her living in constant fear. That fear followed her into adulthood, affecting her sleep, relationships, parenting, friendships, and ability to leave her own home. She made decisions based on what might happen, struggled with severe anxiety and insomnia, and used over-the-counter medication to cope and find rest. Everything began to change when someone challenged Valerie with a difficult question: Had fear become her idol? After asking the Holy Spirit for the truth, Valerie recognized how often she had placed fear above her trust in God. She describes falling to her knees in repentance, surrendering the control fear had over her life, and experiencing a dramatic spiritual deliverance that allowed her to breathe, sleep, and live differently for the first time. Crystal and Valerie also have an honest conversation about the ways trauma can lead people to cope through alcohol, pills, food, sex, pornography, unhealthy relationships, eating disorders, or other addictions.
