    Opposites - right and left - 24th May 2026

    In this thought-provoking instalment of our Opposites series, we explore one of the most divisive topics in modern society: politics. Is God right-wing or left-wing? Would Jesus fit neatly into any political party, or does the Kingdom of God operate on an entirely different level? As political divisions deepen and competing voices grow louder, we consider what it means to follow Jesus above every ideology. The central challenge of this message is simple but uncomfortable: God's Word is a two-edged sword. It doesn't just expose the flaws in their side; it cuts both ways. It challenges the left and the right. It confronts their assumptions and ours. It rebukes, corrects, and trains all of us. Rather than asking God to endorse our views, perhaps the better question is: are we willing to let God critique them? A timely message.

    Opposites - unchanging and responsive - 17th May 2026

    In our next message in our “Opposites” series, we explore the tension between God being unchanging yet deeply responsive. Scripture reveals a God who is steadfast, faithful, and utterly consistent - the same yesterday, today, and forever. Unlike shifting shadows or unreliable people, God’s character, promises, and love never change. Yet throughout the Bible we also see a God who listens, responds, grieves, rejoices, and moves through relationship and prayer. From Moses interceding for Israel to Abraham pleading for Sodom, we discover a God who is immovably faithful yet relationally engaged. Together, these truths remind us that our God is both completely trustworthy and wonderfully personal - steadfast in character, responsive in heart.

    Opposites - the lion and the lamb - 10th May 2026

    In the first of our "opposites" series, we explore two opposite pictures of God found throughout the Bible - the roaring Lion of Judah and the sacrificial Lamb. We delve into scripture and see a God who is described as a lion - who roars in judgement, who confronts sin, who defends his people and who roars to call his people back to Him. But we also see a God who is like a lamb - who stood silently in our place, carried our sin, saved his people and draws us near. Together, these images reveal a God who is strong enough to judge yet loving enough to save — gloriously, wonderfully both.

    Last words from the cross - "Father forgive them"

    In this first message from our “Last Words” communion series, we reflect on Jesus’ words from the cross: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (📖 Gospel of Luke 23:34). Spoken in the midst of pain, not after it, these words challenge us to think differently about forgiveness. As we come to the communion table, we explore what it means to forgive others - not because they deserve it, but because we have been forgiven through Christ. This message gently unpacks what forgiveness is (and isn’t), how we can release hurt to God, and how the power of the cross enables us to let go, even when it’s hard.

    Lessons from the mountaintop - 19th April 2026

    This week we moved from the wilderness up to the mountain. Building on last Sunday’s message, we explored those powerful mountaintop moments in Scripture and saw how mountains are places of encounter, surrender, and worship. We unpacked Psalm 24 and wrestled with the question, “Who can ascend the hill of the Lord?” (yes Sue got dressed in full climbing gear!) and came to the honest conclusion that none of us actually can on our own… but through Jesus, a way has been made. Finally, we were encouraged by Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman, and that God’s presence is no longer limited to a place - we can meet with Him anytime, anywhere, as we learn to worship in Spirit and in truth.

    On Palm Sunday, we often reflect on the cheering crowds, the humble donkey, and the challenge to stay faithful - but what if there’s something even deeper? In this message, Sue shares a powerful connection between Palm Sunday and the Passover story in Exodus. As Jesus entered Jerusalem, He did so on the very day the Passover lambs were chosen - “selection day.” God was presenting His perfect Lamb to the world.
