THE LOT: THE SCULPTOR

Mary Shelley began writing her famous novel Frankenstein in the summer of 1816. A summer that never came. An eruption of Indonesia’s Mount Tambora in 1815 was so catastrophic that it blanketed the Northern Hemisphere in volcanic ash, blocking the sun, collapsing harvests, and causing one of the worst climate events in recorded history. Europe was cold, dark, and perpetually stormy. Inside a Swiss villa a darkness of the mind set in among a gathering of brilliant, restless souls. Mary had a waking nightmare which “Galvanized” a thought about just who bears responsibility for creation. For our Doctor Aris Thorne a bio-mechanical engineer and geneticist, his thoughts are no longer unencumbered with such a trifling issue, he is dedicated to punishing those responsible for his beloved wife Ingrid’s destruction. Denied a treatment that would have saved her from a terminal illness, a committee of bureaucratic doctors will find they reap what they have sown— the cost to them… the good Doctor is going to see to it that the world sees them for the monsters they are. Some men grieve in silence. Others in a bottle. Doctor Thorne grieves in an obsessive labor of blood, bone and metal with dangerous precision, and galvanized purpose. A man without hope certainly is a man without fear. It’s 3am and the lab is cold. A McLaren idles in the dark, a low and steady V12 thrum, like a mechanical beating heart — Thorne working without fear and with total abandon. And what he’s built has blurred the line between man and machine until it has stopped meaning anything at all. He calls it love. We call it terrifying. SHE: The Altar Of The Innocent

“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.” So little of what we think we know of our lives has anything to do with the cosmic, supernatural realities in which we live and are enveloped. The final, definitive chapter of “SHE”. We are right at the redline. Madeleine Ugarte’s sanctuary in the historic ship-building slips of Vila do Conde, Portugal, has completely breached. Pursued by the grotesque entity Necuratul and hunted by Peter LeBlanc—an ancient celestial architect tracking her since their 1974 intersection—Madeleine executes a desperate, final flight across the international datelines to the dry, sun-baked clay of Mission San Juan Capistrano. Her time has officially expired. The countdown has hit zero. But her only remaining exit vector on the water was a fourteen-year-old harbor delivery boy named Tomás—an innocent young man holding a raw pine fish crate who carries the ultimate, un-declared cosmic authority under his canvas worker’s smock. SHE: Cracks In The Mirror

The proverb “Time waits for no man” tracks back through the centuries to its earliest recorded source in English literature—Saint John Mirk’s Festial, authored around the year 1400 as a warning to mortals about the unyielding, crushing forward march of time. But old Saint Mirk made a foundational error in his ‘book keeping’. He assumed every predator walking the pavement was bound by human blood. In the sovereign case of Peter LeBlanc, time actually does wait. It has to. For Peter, while inhabiting the body of a man, is really not a man at all. Not bound by the confines and limitations of a mortal’s coil—his existence is an ancient one whose path runs through the eons as travel receipts from one existence to another. Peter has let a nine-year chasm sit completely idle. But “SHE,” Madeleine Ugarte, was able to do something few if any ever have… gotten under his skin… Made him feel. Something he kept buried until now… until the exact mechanical thread home reminded him—his triple-black 1961 Jaguar E-Type—came back to the lot. I wrote and composed this original 1968 Chicago electric blues score from the ground up to anchor this sequence, capturing the bleeding, raw energy that surrounds Madeleine Ugarte, a woman who literally faces many transitions deep within the Carpathian mountains to escape something far worse than death. The steady voice of our guide takes us through the blind, suffocating fog as Peter LeBlanc dials the ignition of his triple-black 1961 Jaguar E-Type Fixed Head Coupé to hunt down a defiant asset.
