    The Hot Seat Ep 4

Have you ever wondered why we do some of the things we do at church? Why memorize Bible verses? Why pray, worship, and read Scripture? And if Jesus saves us by grace, why does it matter what we do afterward? Those are some BIG questions, and they're worth asking! In the final episode of The Hot Seat, Flint Wilder welcomes Dave to join Pastor Jackie as they explore the purpose behind the things we practice in our faith. Together, they'll discover that following Jesus isn't about checking boxes, earning points with God, or having all the right answers. It's about knowing Him, trusting Him, and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our lives! Why do we have a Life Verse? Discover why memorizing Scripture is just the beginning and how God's Word can guide our everyday decisions. What's the point of our "This I Know" statement? Learn how these statements help us remember biblical truths while keeping Scripture as our authority. Why do we pray, worship, read the Bible, and serve? Explore how spiritual disciplines help us grow in our relationship with God without earning our salvation. What if I know what's right but don't live that way? Discover why putting God's Word into action matters and how repentance helps us turn back toward Him. How do I know if I'm growing spiritually? Learn to recognize the Holy Spirit's work through changes in our attitudes, choices, and relationships. Luke 9:23 — Jesus calls us to surrender ourselves and follow Him daily. Psalm 119:11 — Hiding God's Word in our hearts helps us resist sin. Ephesians 2:8–10 — We are saved by grace through faith and created for good works. James 1:22–25 — Be doers of God's Word, not hearers only. Galatians 5:22–23 — The fruit of the Spirit reveals the character God develops in us. Philippians 2:12–13 — God works in us as we respond to Him in obedience. Don't Just Know It. Live It! This week, choose one truth you've learned from God's Word and look for ways to put it into practice. Remember: Choose a Bible verse or biblical truth you want to focus on. Recognize: Look for opportunities to apply that truth in your everyday life. Respond: Take one practical step of obedience, whether it's showing kindness, choosing forgiveness, telling the truth, or helping someone in need. At the end of the week, ask yourself: How did I allow God's Word to shape my choices? Where do I still need the Holy Spirit's help? Remember, spiritual growth isn't about becoming perfect overnight. It's about continuing to trust Jesus, surrender to Him, and allow the Holy Spirit to make us more like Him. Pastor Jackie and the Remnateers want to hear from YOU! Acts 17:11 — The Bereans carefully examined the Scriptures. 2 Peter 1:20–21 — Scripture's prophetic message came through people moved by the Holy Spirit. Become a Bible Detective! What was happening when these words were written? Why? What does this passage teach us about God, His character, and His ways? Then ask: How can I live out this truth today? For an extra challenge, read the passage in two reliable Bible translations and notice how they communicate the same message. Pastor Jackie and the Remnateers want to hear from YOU!
