The Alicia Ortman Podcast

Alicia Ortman

For the woman who looks fine on the outside, but knows there’s more going on underneath. The Alicia Ortman Podcast is a space for honest conversations about self-discovery, intentional living, personal growth, and the things women quietly carry while continuing to show up for everyone and everything around them. Because sometimes you don’t need another productivity hack or five-step plan. You need a question that makes you stop long enough to tell yourself the truth. This podcast is about what’s underneath the goal. I’ve always believed that it’s never really about the goal. It’s about who you become in pursuit of it. And lately, I’ve become even more interested in the woman underneath all those goals, responsibilities, expectations, and roles. What does she want? What is she tired of carrying? Where has she outgrown the way she’s been living? What feels off, even when she can’t quite explain why? What does she need more of? What does she need to finally put down? And who is she becoming now? Those are the conversations we’re having here. Some episodes will teach. Some will tell stories. Some will feel like sitting across the table from a friend having the conversation you didn’t realize you needed. And many will leave you with a question. Not because I have all the answers for your life, but because I want to help you ask better questions of yourself. This is for you if… You’re ambitious, capable, and used to figuring things out. You’re probably the person other people count on. Your life may even look pretty good from the outside. You just know something feels off. Come here. We can get curious about it together. New episodes drop every Tuesday morning.

You Know What You Want, So Why Aren’t You Doing It?

We dig into the real reasons women entrepreneurs don’t take action even when we know exactly what to do next. We name what’s often hiding under “I’m too busy” and we offer simple ways to choose progress without reliving burnout.  • seeing the next level clearly but staying frozen  • replacing action with productive distractions like courses, events, and planning  • fearing being seen as a beginner again after building credibility  • worrying what current clients, family, and friends will think about wanting more  • remembering the cost of hustle and resisting repeating it  • separating being productive from actually moving the needle  Ask yourself: “What haven’t I understood yet about why I’m not doing it?”  You know what you want next in your business. So why aren’t you doing it? The Dream You Are Quietly Carrying

We use the late and beautiful Dolly Parton’s legacy as a mirror to name the dreams we’re quietly carrying and the identity shifts required to pursue them.  We challenge the "being busy" trap, talk honestly about time and capacity, and share a simple way to take one real step forward with clarity and accountability.  • the idea that it’s never about the goal but who we become on the way  • Dolly Parton’s joy, generosity, and self-trust as a model for authentic leadership  • the question of what dream is sitting quietly on your heart  • examples of women’s dreams and the ripple effect if they come true  • time and capacity as real constraints and how bottlenecks keep us stuck  • why being busy is not a badge of honor and how it becomes avoidance  • choosing yourself even when it means ruffling feathers  • breaking a big vision into one next step and asking for help  • how a 20-minute accountability conversation can trigger immediate action  Reflect: How is being busy keeping you stuck? Do you have a dream that has been on your heart for over two years and want to take immediate action on it? Book a Connection Call today! Feeling Disconnected in a Digital World

Let's talk about why it’s possible to be “connected” online all day and still feel lonely, unseen, and hungry for real community. I share what digital life can’t replace and give three concrete steps to create deeper in-person relationships with more honesty and presence. • what we miss about real-life connection, like energy, nuance, eye contact, and belonging • how social media creates the illusion of being known • why refreshing stories and chasing likes points to a deeper need to be seen • isolation stories that grow when we assume everyone is too busy • comparison traps that widen the gap in life and business • overthinking cycles that shrink when we share with another person • why work from home can intensify loneliness and slow clarity • three action steps: audit your calendar, choose depth, practice presence • creating spaces for deeper conversation, including a personal growth book circle Reflect: Where in your life are you craving deeper connection, but waiting for someone else to create it? Getting Ready Before You’re Ready

We stop waiting for the “right time” and get honest about what we can actually hold in this season of life. We talk through how to build a flexible weekly rhythm, why structure can protect freedom, and the questions that help you decide what to pick up and what to put down. • noticing the “summer itch” and the real craving for routine • using a retreat question to align what resonates with the season ahead • naming the four seasons: transition, growth, maintenance, rest • building a flexible week-one week-two rhythm instead of a rigid daily schedule • creating an ecosystem where business, home, health, and relationships all get supported • learning that winging it and strict structure both fail without capacity • separating what we think we can hold from what we can actually hold • tracking time to set realistic expectations and prevent shame-driven burnout • asking what you feel ready for now and what you are ready to put down • pruning commitments because you cannot add to a full plate • reflecting on what changes when you plan around capacity instead of “should” Get the 5-Question Self-Discovery Guide to name what's sitting underneath the surface.
