Jesus Company Podcast Season 3, Episode 64 Pet or Prey? 🪿🔥 Are You Being Cared For—or Cultivated for Consumption? Have you ever mistaken something that is slowly controlling you for something that is simply comforting you? 👀 In this episode, a curious ceramic goose, a childhood pig named Oscar, and a powerful warning from the apostle Peter come together to challenge the way we think about temptation, appetites, spiritual vigilance, and freedom. • 🪿 The Goose in the Kitchen — A chef feeding a goose looks innocent… until you consider another possibility: What if the goose isn't being cared for as a pet, but being cultivated for consumption? • 🐖 Oscar the Pig — A beloved childhood companion walked to school every morning—until one day he disappeared. The painful lesson: affection doesn't always change the purpose for which something is being raised. • 🦁 A Roaring Lion — 1 Peter 5:8-11 reminds us that we have an adversary who is actively looking for someone to devour. Peter's answer? Be sober-minded. Be alert. Resist the devil, standing firm in the faith. • 🚨 Danger Doesn't Always Look Dangerous — Temptation may begin with something pleasurable, comforting, familiar, or seemingly harmless. A little more. A little deeper. A little more often. Until what once troubled your conscience feels normal. • 🧭 Examine the Trajectory — What are you feeding? What is getting stronger every time you indulge it? What once served you that now seems to control you? What is this habit, appetite, wound, fear, or obsession forming you into? • ✝️ Resistance Means Belonging to Jesus — Christian resistance isn't merely gritting your teeth and trying harder. It's bringing your appetites under Christ's authority, choosing life over immediate pleasure, and refusing to cooperate with whatever is trying to master you. • 🌱 Don't Mistake Being Fed for Being Cared For — Not everything that feels good is good for you. Not everything that comforts you is leading you toward life. 💡 The question for this episode: Am I a pet—or am I prey? Jesus has not come to fatten us for destruction. He came to give us abundant life. 🙌✨ 📖 Scripture: 1 Peter 5:8-11 (CSB) Bible Gateway #PetOrPrey #ChristianPodcast #ChristianLiving #Faith #Jesus #Bible #1Peter #SpiritualWarfare #Temptation #SpiritualGrowth #ChristianDiscipleship #FaithAndLife #BiblicalWisdom #SoberMinded #BeAlert #ResistTheDevil #AbundantLife #FreedomInChrist #ChristianFaith Chef/Goose Image Subscribe to the Jesus Company podcast NOW, its on all the podcast 📲❤️ Tag us! 🔗 Listen, subscribe, and leave a review to help others find Jesus Company Here are some 🔗 Helpful Links Jesus Company on 🎧 Apple Podcasts Jesus Company on 🎵 Spotify Jesus Comany on 🎙️ Amazon Music Jesus Company on 🎼 Deezer iHeart Jesus Company Podcast 📻 iHeartRadio 🔗🌐 transformthiscity.org 📱 @JesusCoOfficial on X | Search "Jesus Company" on your podcast app 📱 Connect with Us: 💻 Website: Jesus Company is the home base for the podcast, and there are some additional links to podcast players that host the show!💻 Website: gwot.rocks home page 📺 YouTube: "Other Things with...
