3Fold Cord

3Fold Cord

We’re Skyler and JR, a husband and wife living out three callings: One as children of a Holy God, one to each other in marriage, and one to service, either in the military, in the Army of God, or in both. Our story is one of distance and devotion — learning what it means to stay united in Christ even when deployment, duty, or life’s demands do all that they can to pull us apart. Our podcast was born from our conviction that a threefold cord is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Each episode invites listeners into honest conversations about love, leadership, separation, and spiritual endurance — all through the lens of a Christian worldview. Our hope is simple: to encourage couples, military families, and believers to see that the gospel not only holds us together — it strengthens every bond, every battle, and every homecoming. Faith. Marriage. Mission. We hope you enjoy our podcast where our faith in our Lord and Savior, our marriage, and the military life are woven together by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

    The Gospel and the Grind

In a world that celebrates big moments and major accomplishments, it's easy to overlook the quiet, ordinary work that makes up most of our lives. But what if those everyday moments are exactly where God is shaping us? In Episode 5 of 3 Fold Cord, Skyler and JR discuss how the gospel transforms the daily grind of marriage, parenting, military life, and work. From folding laundry and leading your family to deployments and demanding careers, they explore how Christ calls His people to faithfulness—not just in life's biggest moments, but in the thousands of small acts of love and service that often go unnoticed. Together, they answer three important questions: • Why do we struggle to see ordinary responsibilities as meaningful?• How do we love our spouse well when we're exhausted or overwhelmed?• How do we remain faithful when no one seems to notice? Drawing from Colossians 3:23–24, Galatians 6:2, and Luke 16:10, this conversation reminds us that our everyday work becomes worship when it is done for Christ. The gospel changes our perspective, our purpose, and ultimately the way we love those God has entrusted to us. Whether you're serving in the military, supporting a deployed spouse, raising children, or simply trying to follow Jesus through the routines of daily life, we pray this episode encourages you to see God's extraordinary grace in ordinary faithfulness.
