The Gospel of Mark: Authority in Action |

It's good to worship together. Even if it's from home. After calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee, Jesus arrives in Gentile territory and immediately encounters a man whose life has been completely devastated by demonic oppression. Living among tombs, isolated from society, and beyond human help, this man represents the destructive power of evil and the hopelessness many people feel apart from Christ. But what happens next reveals the unmatched authority of Jesus. The demons immediately recognize who He is. They know His power. They know His identity. Yet this story reminds us that knowing facts about God is not the same as surrendering to Him. True faith is more than acknowledgment—it is trust, repentance, and submission to Christ. This message explores spiritual warfare, God’s protection over believers, the reality of evil in our world, and the incredible transforming power of Jesus. No matter how broken a life may seem, Jesus still restores what Satan seeks to destroy. The same Savior who delivered this man is still changing lives today. Memorable Lines & Takeaways “Jesus loves to transform the people everyone else has given up on.”“The distinction between knowledge of God and surrender to God is enormous.”“The only authority Satan has is the authority God allows him to have.”“Your story of what Jesus has done for you is one of the most powerful tools for sharing the gospel.”Bible Study Questions What stands out most to you about the condition of the demon-possessed man before he met Jesus? Why is it significant that the demons recognized Jesus immediately while many people did not?How would you explain the difference between believing that God exists and truly surrendering to Him?What does this passage teach us about the power and limitations of Satan? How does Jesus’ authority over a legion of demons strengthen your confidence in Him?What forms of spiritual influence or temptation are most common in today’s culture? How does God provide protection and strength for believers facing spiritual battles? Why do you think the townspeople asked Jesus to leave after witnessing the miracle? How has Jesus transformed your life, and how can you share that story with others? What area of your life currently needs the freedom, healing, or restoration that only Christ can provide? The Gospel of Mark: Authority in Action | Who is Jesus?

It's good to worship together. Even if it's from home. In Mark 4, the disciples find themselves trapped in a violent storm while Jesus sleeps in the boat. Fear takes over, and they cry out, “Don’t you care if we drown?” But with a single command, Jesus speaks to the wind and waves, and everything becomes completely calm. This message explores more than just Jesus calming storms—it asks a deeper question: “Who is Jesus to you?” Storms have a way of exposing what we trust most. When life feels unstable, when health, finances, relationships, or security are threatened, fear often reveals what our hearts are clinging to. Jesus challenges His disciples—and us—not simply to have more faith in general, but to place deeper faith in Him. The message wrestles honestly with how easy it is to value temporary things more than Christ Himself. Jesus is not merely someone who protects our comfort or keeps life manageable. He is the Savior who died and rose again, the Bread of Life who satisfies, the Light of the World who overcomes darkness, and the Good Shepherd who cares for His people. Ultimately, the question becomes personal: Is Jesus enough even if the storm doesn’t immediately stop? Memorable Lines & Takeaways “Jesus is not just the one who calms storms—He is more valuable than anything the storm could take away.” “The disciples responded in fear, but Jesus responded in power.” “Faith is not just believing in general; it is trusting Jesus for who He truly is.” “Storms reveal where our faith actually rests.”Bible Study Questions Why did the disciples struggle to trust Jesus in the middle of the storm? What storms in your life currently challenge your faith? How can fear reveal what we value most deeply? What does it mean to fix your eyes on Jesus during difficult seasons? In what ways can people treat Jesus more like “insurance” than Savior? How does this story reveal Jesus’ authority and identity? What earthly things are hardest for you to surrender to God? How would your life look different if Jesus truly became your greatest treasure?Stay Connected LH Website Connection & Prayer Give

The Gospel of Mark: Authority in Action | The Lamp and the Seed

It's good to worship together. Even if it's from home. In Mark 4, Jesus teaches through parables about lamps, seeds, and mustard plants to reveal what true faith looks like. This message explores what it means to live openly for Christ, faithfully sow the gospel, and trust God to grow His kingdom. A true encounter with Jesus changes a person. The gospel does not leave hearts untouched—it produces fruit, transformation, and a life marked by the light of Christ. Jesus compares believers to a lamp meant to shine in the darkness, not be hidden away. He challenges His followers to stop covering the light out of fear, shame, or cultural pressure and instead boldly display the hope of the gospel. The message also reminds us that spiritual growth belongs to God. We faithfully sow the seed of the gospel through prayer, conversations, and everyday witness, but only God can soften hearts and bring life. Like the mustard seed, God’s kingdom began with small beginnings yet continues to grow across the world by His power. Memorable Lines & Takeaways “We don’t encounter Christ and walk away unmarked.”“Put Him on full display in your life.”“You cannot argue someone into heaven.”“The power was never in the mustard seed—it was always in God.”Bible Study Questions What does it look like to put the light of Christ on display in everyday life? Why do believers sometimes hide or minimize their faith around others? How does genuine faith produce visible fruit over time? What encouragement do you find in knowing that God is responsible for spiritual growth?Who in your life are you praying would come to know Christ? How does the mustard seed parable encourage believers who feel small or insignificant? What areas of your life may still be hiding the light of Christ? What does this message teach about the urgency of the gospel? Mothers Day 2026 | For Such a Time as This

It's good to worship together. Even if it's from home. Description This Mother’s Day message looks at the story of Esther and the powerful influence of godly women in the family, the church, and the culture. Esther was an orphan living in exile who unexpectedly became queen, but her true influence did not come from position or appearance—it came from an identity rooted in God. When her people faced destruction, Esther chose courage over comfort and trusted God to use her “for such a time as this.” This message explores what it means to live with godly influence in today’s world: finding identity in Christ, seeking God’s glory above personal recognition, allowing wisdom to guide emotions, and stepping forward in courage when God calls.Whether you are a mother, daughter, wife, friend, or mentor, God desires to use your life to influence others for His kingdom. Memorable Lines & Takeaways “Your identity is your influence.”“Your worth is rooted in the unchanging grace and acceptance that God offers through Jesus Christ.”“Seek courage over comfort.”“The church can only accomplish its redemptive purpose if godly women are influencing its culture.” Bible Study Questions What pressures does culture place on women when it comes to identity and worth? How did Esther remain grounded in her identity despite dramatic changes in her life? What does it look like to prioritize God’s glory over comfort or approval? How can wisdom guide emotions in difficult situations? What fears may keep someone from stepping into the influence God is calling them toward?Where might God be asking you to choose courage over comfort right now?How can women influence their families and communities spiritually in everyday life? What does Esther’s story teach us about trusting God in difficult circumstances?Stay Connected: LH Website | https://www.churchlh.com/Connection & Prayer | https://www.churchlh.com/prayerGive | https://www.churchlh.com/give

The Gospel of Mark: Authority In Action | Check the Soil

It's good to worship together. Even if it's from home. In Mark 4, Jesus tells a familiar farming story with a deeply personal question beneath it: what kind of soil is your heart?Through the parable of the soils, Jesus shows how different hearts respond to the Word of God. Some hearts are hardened and closed off. Some receive the message quickly but have no root. Some are crowded by worry, wealth, and competing desires. But the good soil hears the Word, receives it, and produces lasting fruit. This message challenges us to examine how we listen, what may be distracting us, and whether our lives are marked by spiritual fruitfulness. We are called to faithfully scatter the seed of God’s Word and trust God with the results. Memorable Lines & Takeaways “The gospel message is a source of hope for those who believe, but a message of judgment for those who reject it.”“We are called to spread seed and let God do the work in whatever condition He finds the soil.”“Be humble when the seed is scattered so that when it arrives, it can take root.”“Focus on fruitfulness, not busyness.” Bible Study Questions Which of the four soils feels most personally challenging to you right now, and why? What are some signs that someone is hearing God’s Word but not truly receiving it?How have hardship, disappointment, or suffering tested the depth of your faith? What “thorns” tend to crowd out spiritual fruitfulness in your life? How can you prepare your heart before hearing or reading God’s Word? What does it look like to share the gospel faithfully while trusting God with the results?Where might God be calling you to pursue fruitfulness instead of busyness? The Gospel of Mark: Authority in Action | From the Crowd to the Circle

It's good to worship together. Even if it's from home. In Mark 3, crowds are coming to Jesus from every direction, desperate for healing, hope, and freedom. But in the middle of all that, Jesus does something important: He calls a smaller group to come closer. He appoints twelve disciples not only to follow Him, but to be with Him, be shaped by Him, and be sent by Him.This message is a reminder that Jesus does not only invite us to come and see. He invites us into deeper discipleship. He calls us out of the crowd and into circles of growth, mission, and relationship—where we learn to know Him personally, share His good news, and live empowered by His Spirit. Memorable Lines & Takeaways • “Jesus does not only invite people to come and see—He invites them to come closer.” • “Before Jesus sends His disciples out, He first calls them to be with Him.” • “The gospel moves us from spectators in the crowd to participants in Christ’s mission.” • “Jesus still calls ordinary people into deeper circles of discipleship and Spirit-empowered purpose.” Bible Study Questions 1. What do you notice about the difference between the crowd and the disciples in this passage? 2. Why is being with Jesus the foundation for everything else in the Christian life? 3. What keeps people from moving deeper in discipleship and community? 4. How have smaller circles of fellowship or accountability helped you grow spiritually? 5. What does it look like to go and share Jesus with the people already around you? 6. How does the Holy Spirit give believers strength, boldness, and guidance today? 7. The Gospel of Mark: Authority in Action | The Lord of the Sabbath

It's good to worship together. Even if it's from home. In Mark 2 and 3, Jesus confronts a kind of religion that had become more concerned with rules than with people. As the Pharisees criticize His disciples for eating grain on the Sabbath and oppose Him for healing a man with a shriveled hand, Jesus makes something clear: God’s heart is not burdensome performance, but mercy, grace, and true rest. This message challenges us to ask whether we have confused God’s commands with man-made expectations, and whether our own preferences, traditions, or comfort have kept us from loving people well. Jesus shows that the Sabbath was a gift, not a trap, and that real rest is ultimately found in Him. He calls us away from legalism and into a grace-filled life that sees people, meets needs, and reflects the heart of God. Memorable Lines & Takeaways “The Sabbath was meant to be a gift, not a burden.”“God is more interested in provision than spotless religious performance.”“Mercy matters more than ritual when people are hurting.”“True rest is not found in rules, but in the person of Jesus Christ.”Bible Study Questions What difference do you see between Jesus’ approach and the Pharisees’ approach in this passage? Why is it so easy to drift from God’s heart into legalism and performance?Have you ever experienced religion as a burden instead of a gift? What shaped that? What does Jesus’ healing on the Sabbath teach us about mercy and human need?In what ways can traditions or preferences keep us from loving people well? What does it mean for Jesus to be Lord of the Sabbath in your daily life?Where is God inviting you to receive His rest and extend His grace this week?Stay Connected: LH Website | https://www.churchlh.com/ Connection & Prayer | https://www.churchlh.com/prayer Give | https://www.churchlh.com/give
