Episode 28: The Message in the Feeling | A Conversation with Carla Green

Letter to the Listener Hey mama, Have you ever caught yourself saying, "I shouldn't feel this way?" Or maybe you've gotten so good at staying busy, taking care of everyone else, or pushing through that you've almost forgotten how to check in with yourself. What if those emotions you've been trying so hard to avoid aren't actually the problem? What if they're trying to tell you something important? In today's conversation, my dear friend and fellow coach Carla Green shares a perspective that completely changed the way I think about emotions. Instead of seeing them as obstacles to overcome, what if we began treating them as messengers? What if frustration, sadness, anxiety, or even overwhelm were invitations to become more curious instead of more critical? How might your relationships change if you stopped trying to fix every feeling and simply listened for what it was trying to teach you? And what would it feel like to trust yourself enough to know you can experience difficult emotions without being overwhelmed by them? This conversation isn't about becoming more emotional. It's about becoming more aware. Because when we learn to understand our emotions instead of fear them, we begin to understand ourselves more deeply, and that's where lasting growth begins. This episode is part of the I've Got You Mama podcast - a show for moms and women who want to care for their whole self, live with intention, and find joy without pressure or burnout.   In This Episode In this conversation, Carla and I discuss: Why emotions are not problems to solve but messengers worth listening to How many of us were taught to suppress emotions instead of understand them Why emotional awareness is a skill that can be learned Simple ways to reconnect with your emotions without feeling overwhelmed The importance of curiosity over self-judgment How to tell the difference between resistance and genuine guidance Why healing isn't a destination but an ongoing process Building emotional resilience instead of emotional avoidance Resources Mentioned She Rises (multi-author book) Carla Green is the author of Chapter 3: "The Message in the Feeling." Her chapter also includes a free guided audio to help you begin processing emotions. Episode 27: Growing Around Grief: Finding Joy After Loss | A Conversation with Margo Frodonsky

Hey mama, Have you ever wondered if you'll ever feel like yourself again after a loss? Maybe you're grieving someone you love. Maybe you're grieving a relationship, a dream that didn't come true, a season of life that's ended, or simply the life you thought you'd have. Have you found yourself wondering why it still hurts? Or questioning whether you're grieving the "right" way? Have you felt pressure to move on when your heart simply isn't ready? If so, I hope this conversation feels like a deep breath. Today I'm joined by my friend Margo Frodonsky, a Certified Master Life Coach, Certified Grief Educator, and bereaved mother who shares one of the most hope-filled perspectives on grief I've ever heard. Together, we talk about why grief isn't something we move on from—it's something we learn to carry. We explore how healing isn't about forgetting or leaving someone behind, but about growing a life that's big enough to hold both grief and joy. My hope is that you'll walk away knowing there isn't a timeline you have to follow, there isn't a "right" way to grieve, and there is nothing wrong with your heart if it still aches. Joy doesn't erase grief, and grief doesn't eliminate the possibility of joy. They can exist together. This episode is part of the I've Got You Mama podcast—a show for moms and women who want to care for their whole self, live with intention, and find joy without pressure or burnout. In This Episode We Talk About: Why grief isn't linear—and why that's completely normal The difference between surviving grief and growing through it How joy and grief can coexist Why there is no timeline for healing The powerful "growing around grief" analogy Creating moments of peace through intentional self-care Finding meaning after profound loss Building resilience while honoring the people and dreams you love Resources Mentioned Connect with Margo Frodonsky Website: margofordonski.com Free Guide: margofordonski.com/freeguide Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/margofordonski_lifecoach/ Facebook: facebook.com/margofordonskilifecoach LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/margo-fordonski-033b27a6 Connect + What's Next If this episode resonated, I'd love for you to: Subscribe to the podcast so you don't miss future episodes. Episode 26: What Resilience Looks Like in Real Life | My Conversation with Sharla Peterson

Hey mama, Have you ever wondered how you would respond if life changed overnight? Maybe you're walking through a season that looks nothing like you expected, or maybe you're simply trying to figure out what comes next. Have you found yourself grieving a version of life you thought you'd have? Wondering if joy is still possible when the path ahead looks different than the one you planned? Or asking yourself where you even begin when you feel like you're starting over? Today's conversation is one I have been looking forward to sharing because Sharla Peterson reminds us that resilience isn't about pretending life isn't hard. It's about choosing to ask, "What can I do from here?" Sharla shares her incredible story of pursuing a lifelong dream of bodybuilding at age 50, experiencing a devastating spinal cord injury that left her paralyzed, and discovering that while her life changed completely, her purpose didn't disappear. Instead, she found new possibilities she never could have imagined. I hope this conversation reminds you that resilience doesn't always mean getting your old life back. Sometimes it means creating a beautiful new one. Whatever season you're in today, I hope you'll leave this episode believing that there is still purpose to be found, joy to be experienced, and another step you can take. This episode is part of the I've Got You Mama podcast—a show for moms and women who want to care for their whole self, live with intention, and find joy without pressure or burnout. In This Episode We Talk About: What resilience actually looks like after a life-changing event Why asking "What can I do from here?" is a powerful mindset shift The importance of having meaningful goals during difficult seasons Adapting dreams instead of abandoning them Finding purpose after unexpected loss Why it's never too late to pursue something that lights you up Building a joyful life even when life doesn't go according to plan The role of faith, hope, and possibility in overcoming adversity Resources Mentioned Connect with Sharla Peterson on Instagram for her adaptive bodybuilding journey and inspiring message of resilience. Episode 25:The Art of Bouncing Back: 3 Rules for Building Resilience

Hey mama, Have you ever wondered why some challenges seem to knock us flat while others feel more manageable? Or why some seasons take weeks, months, or even years to recover from? The truth is, resilience isn't about avoiding hard things. It's not about always being strong or bouncing back overnight. It's about learning how to navigate life's challenges and finding your footing again when life doesn't go according to plan. In this episode, we're talking about the difference between resistance and resilience, why both matter, and how we can strengthen our ability to recover when setbacks inevitably come. What if resilience is less about toughness and more about the habits, mindset, and support systems we build over time? What if the season you're in right now is helping you develop strengths you don't even realize you have yet? Whether you're in a season of calm, facing a challenge, or picking yourself up after one, I hope this conversation reminds you that progress doesn't require perfection. It simply requires taking the next step. Episode 24: Why Are We Rushing Through Life? A Conversation with Meg Kuhnle

Hey mama, Have you ever reached the end of a day and wondered where it went? You checked the boxes, answered the messages, drove the kids, handled the responsibilities, and somehow still felt like you never really arrived in your own life. I think a lot of us know what it feels like to be busy. The harder question is whether we're present. What happens when rushing becomes our default setting? When was the last time you sat down without immediately reaching for your phone or thinking about the next thing on your list? What are we missing when we're always moving toward what's next? And what if slowing down isn't actually about doing less, but about being more fully where we already are? In this conversation, I sit down with coach and yoga instructor Meg Kuhnle to talk about the cycle of rushing that so many women find themselves trapped in. We explore why slowing down can feel surprisingly uncomfortable, how rushing impacts our relationships and well-being, and what it looks like to create more presence in the middle of real life. If you've ever felt like life is moving faster than you can keep up with, I think you'll find encouragement and practical wisdom in this conversation. Episode 23: Before Summer Slips Away: Pause, Prioritize, Protect

Hey mama, Have you had one of those moments lately where you look up and realize summer is already here? Maybe you've spent the last few weeks surviving graduations, recitals, sports schedules, end-of-year celebrations, work responsibilities, and all the things that come with this season of life. Maybe you've been so busy getting through May that you haven't had a chance to think about what you actually want this summer to be about. What if you paused for just a moment and asked yourself: How do I want this summer to feel? What matters most right now? When August gets here, what do I hope I'll be glad I made time for? In this episode, I'm sharing some of the tension I've been navigating in my own life as I try to be fully present with my family while also building the next chapter of my business and purpose. We talk about why creating an intentional summer isn't about making every moment magical or filling a bucket list with activities. It's about paying attention to what matters before the season slips by. I'll walk you through a simple framework I've been using myself: Pause. Prioritize. Protect. Because life moves quickly. Summer moves even faster. And the things that matter most are often the easiest things to crowd out when we're busy doing all the things. My hope is that this episode gives you a chance to slow down, reflect, and make space for what matters most in this season. Not with pressure. Not with perfection. Just with intention. This episode is part of the I've Got You Mama podcast — a show for moms and women who want to care for their whole self, live with intention, and find joy without pressure or burnout. In This Episode You'll learn: Why intentional living starts with clarity, not more planning The tension between building what's next and being present for what's now Why urgent and important are not always the same thing A simple three-step framework: Pause. Prioritize. Protect. Three powerful questions to help you create a more meaningful summer Resources Mentioned There are no formal resources mentioned in this episode. Episode 22: Creating a Life of Impact Through Service, Adventure, and Connection with Lindsay Bowen

Hey mama, Sometimes we think making an impact has to mean doing something big—starting a movement, changing the world, or adding one more thing to our already full lives. But what if impact is much closer than that? What if it’s found in the relationships we build, the people we serve, the experiences that expand our perspective, and the ways we choose to connect with the world around us? In this episode, I sit down with Lindsay Bowen, founder of ROAM Humanitarian, to talk about service, adventure, connection, and living with intention. As you listen, I invite you to consider:  What experiences have shaped who you are?  When was the last time you stepped outside your comfort zone and saw the world through a different lens?  Where might there be opportunities for deeper connection, purpose, or growth in this season of your life? This conversation isn’t about doing more or being more. It’s about recognizing that meaningful living can take many forms, and sometimes the experiences that change us most begin with a simple willingness to say yes to something new. I hope this episode leaves you feeling inspired, connected, and reminded that there are countless ways to make a difference—many of which you’re already living every day. Episode 21: When Life Keeps Knocking You Down

Hey mama, Have you ever gone through a season where it felt like life just kept hitting you before you had a chance to recover from the last thing? Maybe you’ve still been showing up on the outside - taking care of people, getting things done, carrying responsibilities - while internally feeling emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or like your nervous system just can’t catch up. Maybe you’ve wondered why rest doesn’t seem to “fix” it. Or why things that normally bring you joy suddenly feel harder to access. Maybe you’ve even quietly questioned yourself, wondering, “Why can’t I just bounce back?” In today’s episode, I’m sharing a very personal conversation about burnout, cumulative overwhelm, nervous system exhaustion, and what happened when I finally hit a breaking point after months of emotional stress, physical exhaustion, and trying to keep everything moving. We talk about the pressure so many women feel to handle hard seasons gracefully, the quiet shame that can come when we suddenly don’t feel like ourselves anymore, and the realization that emotional awareness does not make us immune to being human. I also share some of the small things that slowly helped me begin finding my footing again — slowing down, letting some things go, asking for help, moving my body gently, breathing deeply, finding tiny moments of joy again, and learning that resilience doesn’t always look like immediately bouncing back. Sometimes it looks much quieter than that. What if healing starts smaller than we think? What if your body isn’t failing you, but asking for care? What if resilience isn’t about pushing harder, but about staying connected to yourself while life feels hard? And what if needing more rest than expected isn’t weakness… but wisdom? If you’ve been carrying a lot lately, I hope this episode reminds you that you are not failing because you’re human. You are allowed to slow down. You are allowed to need support. And you are allowed to come back to yourself gently.
