Kim Tourdot Walker: Divorce Truths, Money Moves & Starting Over

Send us Fan Mail Kaley sits down with twin cities divorce attorney Kim Tourdot Walker, who's been practicing family law for 28 years and running her own solo practice for 19 of them. This one's been a long time coming. You've been asking for a divorce attorney's take, and Kim delivers. They get into the real first steps if you're even contemplating divorce (hint: it starts with knowing what you actually have), how settlements can look different for stay-at-home moms, spousal maintenance, and the things people almost always overlook when they're splitting a life in two. Kim also talks about who's really initiating divorce these days and why she's seeing more clients in their 70s than ever before. If you've ever felt like there's no roadmap for this, or you're quietly wondering what your first move should be, this one's for you! Kim Tourdot Walker is a divorce and family law attorney based in the Twin Cities, with 28 years of legal experience, including 19 years leading her own solo practice. As a working mother who raised two children — both now in college — she built her practice around the same flexibility and independence she wanted for her own family. Kim believes that entering the divorce process with a clear understanding of your finances, your rights, and your options is essential to coming out of it okay. A strong advocate for alternative dispute resolution, she helps clients pursue more constructive outcomes through mediation and Collaborative Law whenever possible, resolving family law matters with dignity, respect, and honest, practical guidance every step of the way.

Rachel Mairose: 30,000 Rescues, Hiding Puppies from Her Landlord & the Bond Between People and Pets

Send us Fan Mail In this episode, Kaley sits down with Rachel Mairose, founder and executive director of The Bond Between, and it’s a conversation full of heart. They talk about what it really takes to rescue thousands of animals a year, the foster fails and funny mismatches along the way (including a landlord who almost found out about four extra puppies), and how Rachel’s organization stepped up for families and their pets during a hard year for immigrant communities. Kaley and Rachel dig into what rescue really means, not just for animals, but for the people who need them just as much. If you’ve ever needed a reminder that showing up for your community changes lives, this one’s for you! Rachel Mairose is the Executive Director and Founder of The Bond Between, formerly Secondhand Hounds, an animal (& human) wellbeing organization based in Minnesota. Rachel has been animal crazy from a young age and fell in love with animal rescue during her time at Washington University in St. Louis, where she earned her degree in Environmental Conservation. Having been diagnosed with anxiety disorder and panic disorder, Rachel is passionate about mental health and the benefits of being around animals. Because of this, The Bond Between has a holistic approach to animal welfare and believes that animals should be kept in their loving homes whenever possible. The Bond Between is a unique organization that combines an animal rescue, social services programs, and a veterinary center together which results in one common goal: fostering the human animal bond through adoption, reunification, and outreach.
