    Watching and waiting for wisdom

    There is a promised blessing for those that listen to wisdom with the attitude of eagerness and expectancy...those that are watching daily at wisdom's gates and waiting at wisdom's doors. This is how we should approach the true source of wisdom... God's Word, the Bible.Proverbs 8:34Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

    The requirement for receiving God's wisdom

    How do we experience God's wisdom in our lives? What is the one essential prerequisite for experiencing God's wisdom? One word... humility! 1 Kings 3:7 And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

    The Bible - my delight and my counselor!

    Do we truly look to the Bible as our counselor? Or are we looking to the opinions of man? Are we truly finding our delight in God's Word? The Psalmist looked to God's testimonies as his delight and his counselors.Psalm 119:24 - Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.

    God, our help and our shield

    ”He is their help and shield" is repeated three time is Ps.115. It's a reminder to us to not search for the help and security of man, but to trust in the Lord. He is our help and our shield! Psalm 115:9-11 - O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

    The deviousness of the devil

    Sensitivity to God's guidance

    We should be so sensitive to God's leading that He can guide us with His eye. Too often, we're like the stubborn mule or horse that needs a bit shoved in their mouth to get them to respond...instead we should willingly seek out and follow God's direction. Psalm 32:8-9 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. [9] Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
