HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH: Misunderstood Cult Classic or Total Flop? 🎃☘️

#Halloween3 #SeasonOfTheWitch #SilverShamrock #JohnCarpenter #TomAtkins #SpookySeason #HorrorMovies #Halloween #MovieReview #HypeCheck #CultClassic #HypeCheckPod 🎃 "It’s almost time, kids. The clock is ticking..." 📺☘️ Spooky Season is rolling full steam ahead on Hype Check, and this week it is Andy’s turn to pick his ultimate guilty pleasure horror movie! And boy, did he pick a controversial one: 1982’s infamous Michael Myers-less curveball, Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Back when it was released, audiences felt completely betrayed by the lack of a white-masked slasher stalking babysitters through Haddonfield. But over the last four decades, Halloween III has carved out a massive, dedicated cult following. We sit down to revisit Tom Atkins, Dan O'Herlihy, and the deadly Silver Shamrock Novelties company to ask: Does this movie actually hold up as an eerie, sci-fi cult classic, or was John Carpenter and Tommy Lee Wallace’s original anthology experiment a mistake? WARNING: SPOILER HEAVY AFTER OUR INITIAL THOUGHTS! Once we lay down our spoiler-free first impressions, the gloves come off. We discuss how it compares to the rest of the Halloween franchise, dissect the unhinged Stonehenge microchip witchcraft plot, analyze that infectious earworm of a jingle, and debate whether the chilling final seconds stick the landing. ☘️ In This Episode: Andy’s Guilty Pleasure Spotlight: Why Andy will defend this bizarre 80s oddity with his life every single October. The Non-Spoiler Verdict: First impressions on the synth score, atmospheric small-town dread, and the initial franchise bait-and-switch. 🚨 SPOILER ZONE UNLOCKED 🚨: Tom Atkins’ Peak Moustache Energy: Dr. Dan Challis doing whatever it takes to crack the case (and down a beer). The Silver Shamrock Jingle: How one maddening commercial brainwashed a generation of movie fans. Bugs, Snakes & Laser Beams: Deconstructing the legendary mask-testing room sequence. The Bleak Final Seconds: "Stop it! Stop it! Make them stop it!"—Does the ending hold up? Franchise Comparison: Did ditching Michael Myers ruin the film's reputation, or would this be hailed as a sci-fi horror masterpiece if it didn't have "Halloween" in the title? *Join the conversation in the comments! * Make sure to Like/Subscribe/Follow and leave us a review!  Reach out for any sponsorships or communications: hypecheckpod@gmail.com If you enjoyed the content then why not show us some love and Buy Us a Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/hypecheckpod For our Movie Content *We're on TikTok:* https://www.tiktok.com/@hypecheckpod8? LIVE - Re-Watching EVENT HORIZON: 90s Flop or Cult Classic Sci-Fi Horror? (Spooky Season Starts Now)

#EventHorizon #SciFiHorror #SamNeill #LaurenceFishburne #SpookySeason #MovieReview #HypeCheck #CultClassic #HorrorMovies #Cinema 🕳️ Spooky Season has officially kicked off on the Hype Check Pod! 🎃 To launch our month of horror guilty pleasures, we are taking a trip back to 1997 to revisit Paul W.S. Anderson’s infamous cult classic sci-fi nightmare: Event Horizon. When this film landed in cinemas nearly 30 years ago, it was a box office flop and critically panned. But over the decades, it has carved out a massive, legendary status as the ultimate "haunted house in deep space." It’s been forever since we’ve sat down to watch Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill venture into the void—so how does it stack up today? Is the tale of a ship that literally folded space-time to visit Hell still as terrifying, claustrophobic, and gruesome as it was in the late 90s? Or do the CGI, 90s action tropes, and notorious production history pull it down? WARNING: FULL SPOILERS AFTER OUR INITIAL THOUGHTS! 🩸 In This Episode: Guilty Pleasure Status: Why we love this movie despite its chaotic theatrical release history. The Non-Spoiler Verdict: First impressions on the Gothic sets, practical suits, and atmospheric dread. 🚨 SPOILER ZONE UNLOCKED 🚨: "Liberate Tutemet Ex Inferis": Translating the terrifying video log from the original crew. Sam Neill’s Descent into Madness: Dr. Weir’s shift from brilliant scientist to eyeball-gouging, possessed hell-pope. Laurence Fishburne’s Captain Miller: Why Miller is one of the most practical, sensible horror captains in cinema history. The Lost Cut: Discussing the mythical, ultra-violent director’s cut that was lost forever in a Transylvanian salt mine. The Legacy: Did Event Horizon set the bar for cosmic horror, Dead Space, and modern sci-fi thrillers? *Join the conversation in the comments! * Make sure to Like/Subscribe/Follow and leave us a review!  Reach out for any sponsorships or communications: hypecheckpod@gmail.com If you enjoyed the content then why not show us some love and Buy Us a Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/hypecheckpod For our Movie Content *We're on TikTok:* https://www.tiktok.com/@hypecheckpod8? ZACH CREGGER’S RESIDENT EVIL: The Greatest Video Game Adaptation Ever? 🧟‍♂️

#ResidentEvil #ZachCregger #HorrorMovies #VideoGameMovies #Capcom #RaccoonCity #MovieReview #HypeCheck #Barbarian #Cinema #HypeCheckPlays #HypeCheckPod The director of Barbarian and Weapons took the keys to Raccoon City, and we went straight to the theatre. This week on Hype Check Pod, we are giving our raw, unfiltered, blind-reaction review of Zach Cregger’s brand new Resident Evil! Rich and Andy hit the cinema together for this one, while Dave caught an opening night screening on his own. And in true Hype Check Pod fashion, the three of us haven't spoken a single word about the movie since leaving the theatre. What you’re hearing in this episode is our genuine, real-time reaction to each other’s takes for the very first time! Cregger promised to bring pure survival horror, tension, and unhinged terror back to the franchise. But did his fresh take on Capcom's universe actually deliver? Is this the ultimate video game adaptation we’ve been begging for since 2002, or did the Barbarian filmmaker take things too far off the rails? WARNING: FULL SPOILER ZONE UNLOCKED AFTER OUR INITIAL THOUGHTS! 🩸 In This Episode: The Blind Reaction: Dave, Rich, and Andy hear each other's actual scores for the first time on air. The Non-Spoiler Verdict: Initial impressions on Cregger's atmosphere, visual design, and pacing compared to previous movie attempts. 🚨 SPOILER DEEP DIVE 🚨: *The Raccoon City Night:* Breaking down the sheer chaos, gore, and tension. *The Creature & Mutant Designs:* Practical effects, body horror, and how the monsters stack up to the Capcom games. *The Game Adaptation Test:* Did taking a fresh narrative route honour the spirit of the games better than a direct shot-for-shot remake? *The Final Score:* Where does Cregger’s vision rank on our 2026 Horror Leaderboard? This week, we packed our bags for the European vacation from hell to rewatch and honestly review 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home.   The big question hanging over this episode: Is this movie actually better than Homecoming? On one hand, you have the absolute brilliance of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio, the insane illusion sequences, and a massive post-credit twist that changed the MCU forever.  On the other hand, just like Homecoming, the internet has spent years picking this movie apart for its heavy reliance on Tony Stark’s legacy and the EDITH glasses plot point.
