Episode 1: Welcome to the Love Your Coaching podcast

In this introductory episode, Charlie welcomes coaches to the podcast channel, shares some thoughts about the channel and what it will be used for. There's a bit of an explainer about each series, the types of topics that will be discussed, and how best to use the podcast. As ever, Charlie's care and enthusiasm for coaching comes through, throughout this intro recording. Charlie Warshawski (00:38.222) Welcome to the Love Your Coaching podcast. I'm Charlie Wyszawski and I'm delighted to be able to launch this podcast for you. It's been quite a long time in coming. I'm a bit of a planner and I've enjoyed the last couple of years putting this all together, practicing, having a go and trying to work out exactly what is the right thing. So this episode is a brief introduction to the podcast and to let you know what to expect. Firstly, who's it for? It's for all coaches. You might be a new coach or you might be a very experienced coach. You might be an internal coach working full-time using your coaching skills within an organisation. You might be a freelance coach, someone running their own coaching business or perhaps working as an associate for other coaching providers. You might not be devoting all of your working life to coaching. You might have a different day job. You might be a leader of some sort or someone running a team. and you have coaching skills and a coaching approach that you bring to them. Whoever you are, you are very, very welcome and thank you. Thank you for engaging in coaching. Whichever bit of the coaching world that you are involved with, thank you. We know it's quite a new sector, isn't it? And to be able to get involved with this in a professional way, I think is a wonderful, wonderful thing. So let me explain a little bit about what to expect with this podcast. We are releasing this in series and we've put together seven or eight different series all with a slightly different flavour. All for coaches. All for coaches to be able to really think about their own practice in a whole number of ways. This first series we're calling this Loving Your Coaching. So it's a gentle introduction. It's an idea of getting to grips with some of the reasons why people engage in coaching, whether as coaches or as coaching clients or as organisations. And we'll also start hearing from some of our guests and people have really thrown themselves into coaching and finding out a little bit about them and their story. We've got further episodes planned. Some are already partly recorded. We've got episodes on developing your coaching business. We've got episodes on how to organise and think about having coaching take place within your organisation. We've got episodes about the coaching industry. And we've got a whole series around coaching skills and developing your own coaching approach. And of course, we have the important episodes about developing and growing a sustainable coaching practice that can help you make a living fully or partly, probably more likely, partly from coaching. And we definitely have a series about some of the dramas, some of the challenges, some of the controversies, some of the polemics that we have going on in the coaching sector. Each series will partly be me on my own, sharing my thoughts and my ideas and reflections, and partly will be guest episodes. And I have to say, we've only recorded about 20 guest episodes, and they're wonderful, wonderful, wonderful people who are really prepared to come along and share and talk and be vulnerable, but also be really knowledgeable about their own coaching. So that's a bit of a flavour of what we've got coming up. Why this stuff? Why are we particularly interested in these areas? There's a whole number of reasons. Firstly, we are looking to have our podcast be a bit of an accessible version of what we offer generally at Love Your Coaching. We train coaches, we mentor coaches, we supervise coaches, we write articles, have a YouTube channel. So we resource coaches well. We really want to help coaches develop and grow their skills as well as develop and grow their coaching business. So although a podcast is a slightly more informal approach than for example, a training course or some YouTube demonstration videos, we nevertheless want to have the podcast add value to you coaches in a similar way. Some of the topics, some of the areas we're choosing are because they are under explored. We don't think that there's enough, for example, about the coaching industry. Charlie Warshawski (06:11.668) some of these topics are being explored because we don't think that there's enough exploration of them generally. We don't hear very much about some of the challenges and some of the problems in the coaching industry. We don't hear much about the unhelpful marketing activities that go on and some of the controversial ethical challenges that there might be. So we want to explore some of those. But I think mostly we want to explore things so that we can support coaches. So that we can really help coaches navigate through all of the information that's out there so that they can access good materials, they can access good practice, and they feel like that they're very well supported and they have a little bit of a leg up. So that's why we put those things in. And probably underneath it all is, as people often say to me, it's in the title, is what we've called this company, what we call these podcasts. Love your coaching, we love coaching. We think coaching is a wonderful thing and I feel very blessed to be alive at a time when coaching is really in its ascendancy. And that's why we have so much to say. We have so much to share and we have so much to learn from other fellow coaches. So that gives you a bit of a flavour of what will be coming up, what to look forward to. The episodes will get dropped, I understand, it's a vernacular every fortnight and the idea is that you can gradually build up this bank of knowledge and information and learn. And we will release them in series. So this first series called Loving Your Coaching, then it's going to be following, the following series will be all about getting started as a coach and so on and so on. Each series is going to have something between 10 and 20 episodes, something of that nature. You can... Pick it up on any of your favourite podcast platforms. We know that that changes all, all, all of the time. And we will resource it very well. We will put in show notes, we'll put in links to some of the other stuff that we have available. And we'll definitely put in information and resources about the coaches who are going to be also as our guests. So please come along and join us and do perhaps tell us about things you'd love to hear about on the Love Your Coaching podcast. We will definitely be planning on Charlie Warshawski (08:32.362) supporting coaches as much as we can so we're definitely, definitely open to some ideas. And I hope that whatever you're doing this week, whether you're coaching, whether you're reading about coaching, whether you're studying some coaching material, that you're having a good, good coaching week and I look forward to seeing you and hearing from you and being involved with you on the Love Your Coaching podcast. Have a good day. About Charlie:  I'm Charlie Warshawski, a UK based coach, coach trainer and supervisor.
