In Part 1 of our conversation, Carnie shares why Taylor Swift’s “seven” completely blew her away, and we dive deep into songwriting, vocal harmonies, and the music that shaped both of us. Carnie also gets incredibly candid about growing up in music, creating the signature Wilson Phillips sound, working with legendary producer Glenn Ballard, and what it was really like being a young woman in the music industry in the early ’90s — including the pressure surrounding her body, image, and weight.
