In this episode, we cover everything from wild gig economy survival stories to the latest updates in self-driving technology. In This Episode:Mass Surveillance Uncovered: Flock Safety planned to partner with Nexar to turn 350,000 Uber and Lyft cars into a rolling surveillance network. Although the proposed partnership didn't materialize, Flock intended to use existing rideshare and delivery cars as devices to collect license plate data. Miami Self-Defense: A 28-year-old delivery driver in Miami Gardens shot an armed robber in self-defense after being robbed at gunpoint. The second suspect, 18-year-old Jabari Joshua Thomas, was arrested and faces second-degree felony murder and armed robbery charges. Road Rage in NC: A North Carolina DoorDash driver named Christen Phillips was severely beaten with a baseball bat after honking at a vehicle that wouldn't move at a green light. Deputies are currently searching for a suspect in his late 30s or early 40s who drives a dark Range Rover with silver alloy rims. Albuquerque Standoff: A delivery driver had a handgun pointed and actually fired at him by an apartment resident. Tesla for the Blind?: Elon Musk stated that Robotaxis must meet the needs of the blind. No More Brake Pedals?: The NHTSA is planning to remove the brake pedal requirement on autonomous vehicles by changing FMVSS No. 135.
