    The Poltergeist Problem: Bridgeport, Enfield, and the Moving Furniture

    In 1974, police officers were called to a small house on Lindley Street in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The family reported knocking, moving furniture, and objects falling from the walls. One officer even documented seeing a refrigerator lift off the floor. Then police announced the whole thing was a hoax. But the story didn't end there. This week on More Than We See, Natalie explores the Bridgeport Poltergeist, the original police reports, the reported admission of ten-year-old Marcia Goodin, and the researchers who continued investigating after the case was officially closed. And because one flying refrigerator apparently wasn't enough, we're also looking at the 1977 Enfield Poltergeist, where another family, another child, and another police officer's account of moving furniture raised remarkably similar questions.     I've Seen What Happens When We Run Out of Time

    We have more ways to reach each other than ever before. So why are so many of us feeling disconnected? I've been thinking about that differently because of what I do for a living: people hire me to talk to their dead people. I sit with people who would give almost anything for one more ordinary conversation with their mom, their partner, their sibling, or their friend. And what they want to know is often incredibly simple. Does she know I still look at the moon and think of her? Did he see his grandchild being born? Would they want me to be happy again? So in this episode, I'm looking at the growing conversation around loneliness and disconnection, what technology has changed about the way we relate to each other, the difference between having access to someone and actually feeling connected to them, and what years of mediumship have taught me about the things we miss when someone is gone. We also wander through the Wheel of the Year, Mabon, our increasingly convenient lives, and a question I can't quite shake: What happens when we don't need one another in the same obvious ways anymore? Because I've seen what happens when we run out of time. And maybe the person you've been meaning to call is still here.

    Can You Trust Yourself When You're Scared?

    You're home alone. You hear a footstep. Your body reacts before you've had time to decide what you heard. Now change one thing. There was no sound. You simply opened your eyes because something in you knew someone was in the room. Do you trust that too?
