I Cheated Death Twice | Krissy White

Krissy White has faced two moments in her life that could have ended very differently. Years before breast cancer, a life-threatening pregnancy left Krissy fighting for her life and her daughter in critical condition. Doctors later told her that another ten minutes could have changed everything. Years later, Krissy was diagnosed with breast cancer and learned she would face an aggressive treatment plan that included chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. Looking back on both experiences, Krissy says: “I cheated death twice.” That realization eventually led to a bigger question: Why am I still here? Thirty seconds to look a frightened parent in the eyes, hold their hand, and assure them that she will take care of their baby before transporting that child to the specialized care they desperately need. Before she became the nurse caring for critically ill babies, she was the mother beside her own son's NICU bed. The care her family received helped inspire a nursing career that has now spanned 30 years. In this episode of Dallas the Podcast, Tracey shares her journey from NICU mom to neonatal and pediatric flight nurse, including the unforgettable story of Daniel—a critically ill baby with a congenital heart defect whose only option was surgery. During a flight that felt like hours, Tracey reached a point where there was nothing more she could do medically except continue caring for him, pray, and get him to the hospital. Daniel underwent surgery within the hour after arriving. Today, he's doing well. God Is Still Writing | A Finley Update

Sometimes hope doesn’t mean the story is finished. It means trusting God while He is still writing it. In this special episode of Dallas the Podcast, Dallas shares an update from Duke following Finley’s 29th surgery and 14 days away from home. After weeks filled with uncertainty, pain, hospital stays, and prayer, this surgery brought encouraging news. Doctors believe they found the area that had been causing Finley significant discomfort and pain. They were able to remove the plate, deliver antibiotics directly to that area, and examine the rest of her eye—and Dallas shares that everything else looked great. There was another answer to prayer that might seem small from the outside, but meant so much to their family: after undergoing anesthesia 29 times, Finley came out of anesthesia better than Dallas has ever seen her. They know they are not out of the woods yet. Recovery is still ahead. There are still things they are waiting to see. But today, there is gratitude. Gratitude for progress. Gratitude for extraordinary doctors and nurses. Gratitude for every person who has prayed. And gratitude for a God who continues to meet us in the places where we need Him most.
