My name is Lily hope I’m 15 years old, and your last episode (episodes 106), just wow! I really need it.
I’ve been through some hard stuff lately with my dad. My dad and mom were divorced when I was 6. It’s been hard, and I sometimes all I want to do is just blame myself for everything. And on July first my dad didn’t want us to take our phones over to his house. Some times my dad can get paranoid. I love him and I know that he had a rough childhood. But when I tried to explain why I was uncomfortable with asking him to call mom whenever I felt like I wanted to. And maybe my approach wasn’t the best, but he told me to get out, and that you can stay and talk to mom whenever I wanted. It broke my heart, all I wanted to say was how uncomfortable it was to ask that of him. I probably should have said that in the first place but I said this instead; “dad, when I was little… and you said that if you want to you can call your mom through my phone, and I asked”… i wanted to say this next but I was intrepid “i saw your hurt expression it made me feel uncomfortable to ask you to talk to mom “I didn’t want to hurt you” and that was the last thing I said after getting out of the car.
After something miraculous happened almost right after that experience. I was visited by the sister missionary’s, and their message was this: 1. Forgiveness and 2. Things may not turned out the way you expected but the savior is always walking with you.
And afterwards I’ve had moments where I just want to hate him or to have bitter thoughts about him. But through your podcast it just reminds me that I need to exercise even more forgiveness to him my dad, to me, and to just put even more trust in my savior. The crazy thing is because of that experience I later realized that even though I’m not sure why things turned out the way that did, right now this is where I need to be.
So thank you Josh downs thank you for your infinitely helpful insight, and more so for helping me to remember to forgive him and to let go of these feelings. I’m so grateful that I found your podcast’s. ( yes I listen to come follow
Me for teens too!) you’ve helped me see how much my savior can help me through this trial and burden that I have been carrying. Thanks for everything! Sincerely Lily Anne. Hope
