    Un Recuerdo. Un Homenaje. ☂️

No necesitas guardarlo.

    A Memory. A Tribute. ☂️

There are things that remind us of people. Sometimes we see a particular type of car or model, and it reminds us of a friend or someone we know who drives the same make. Or we see a piece of clothing and say, “That looks like something ___ would wear.” It can be an object at a store, a piece of art, a familiar fragrance, or even a melody. Why is that? I believe the heart keeps its own archives. It stores the people who have had an impact on us. They don't have to be friends. We don't have to see them every day. They can actually be people from our past, people we haven't thought about in years. And then something we see, hear, or smell brings them back to our minds. Today looks like a good day not to ignore those little moments of remembrance. Because in each one of those memories, there can be a tribute. If something reminds you of a childhood friend, pause for a moment. The fact that you remembered that person says something about the impact they had on your life. And the same can happen with a memory that isn't positive. Sometimes what comes back carries sadness or pain. When that happens, honor the moment, but dismiss the pain. You don't need to store that. Keep what is worth keeping, and let the rest go. And if it is a beautiful memory, if it is someone you love but no longer have access to, say a prayer. Dedicate a beautiful thought to that person. Honor what they deposited in you, or perhaps what you deposited in them. But don't dismiss the memory. That car. That piece of clothing. That melody. That familiar fragrance. Something ordinary brought someone back to your heart. Honor the memory. Release the pain, if there is any. Give thanks for what was good. Because sometimes, simply remembering someone is a tribute!

    Efectos Secundarios ☂️

BW

    Side Effects ☂️

When we hear the words side effects, we usually think about medicine and the impact it may have on our bodies beyond treating a particular condition. Nowadays, even television commercials advertise medications, and sometimes the list of possible side effects seems longer, and even worse, than the condition the medicine is supposed to treat. And yes, sometimes we need to consider those side effects carefully before taking the first pill. But today, I want us to reverse the concept. What about the side effects of the good things we carry? What is the side effect of gratitude? Maybe it is facing life with a different attitude. What is the side effect of joy? Maybe it is discovering something worth celebrating even on an ordinary day. And what about the side effect of believing? Maybe it is finding the courage to keep walking when we still cannot see what is ahead. If today you are reading a prescription and its list of side effects is filling you with concern, I understand. But I also invite you to consider the side effects of your daily attitude. When you step outside and the sun is shining, think about the warmth on your face and the vitamin D your body receives. If it is raining, remember that your flowers will look even prettier tomorrow. And if the day is dark and gloomy, remember that behind those clouds, the sun is still there, waiting to appear again. Now think about the side effects of letting go of anger. Of no longer living in resentment. Of stopping the comparison with others. Of saying no to negativity so that you can make room for forgiveness, kindness, generosity, gratitude, joy, and hope. Those are some of the most beautiful side effects of faith: A different attitude. A lighter heart. A hopeful perspective. The courage to keep going. And the certainty that even when you cannot see the sun, you still believe it is there.  BW

BW

    No, They Can’t ☂️

A robot cleans my floors  My digital calendar reminds me of holidays and important dates. My car speaks to me in a language that, sometimes, I don’t even understand. My washing machine decides how much water my clothes need and adjusts its cycle almost as if it were thinking for me. Technology can do many things. Good things. Useful things. Things that make life easier, faster, and more convenient. But there are things they can’t do. There is no device that can bring back a memory exactly as my heart remembers it. No machine can recreate the aroma of my childhood and suddenly transport me to a place I haven’t visited in years. No screen can completely understand the thoughts I’m having this morning, or the things I discussed quietly with myself last night. There are things a robot cannot do. There are things artificial intelligence will never be intelligent enough to even artificially understand. Because the human soul was not created to be understood by a robot or a machine. The human soul was created to be nurtured with love, understanding, compassion, and mercy, and, in the same way, to return those things to other souls along the way. Souls that may look like you. Souls that may look nothing like what you imagined or desired in another human being. And yet, somehow, the tenderness of your heart opens to them. And right there, you recognize something. A feeling. A connection. Something invisible that unites the two of you. No button was pressed. No screen was consulted. No command was given. Just one human heart recognizing another. And that, there is no machine that can do it. So today, I invite you to unplug, at least for a little while, and connect soul to soul. Go hug someone long enough to hear their heartbeat. That’s real connection. And no robot can do it! BW

BW

     Simple Routines ☂️

A friend recently celebrated her birthday, and the report the next day was simple: She spent her special day enjoying the simple routines. That phrase stayed with me. The simple routines. Sometimes we become so accustomed to the things we do every day that we stop recognizing the joy hidden inside them. I thought about my own morning routine, having my coffee in a quiet place, sometimes accompanied by a reflection, a devotion, or a few moments of meditation. Reading a book in a favorite place. Driving a familiar road. Opening the refrigerator and pouring a glass of fresh, cold water. Rolling down the car window and letting the fresh air come in. And then, at the end of the day, winding down before going to bed. Simple things. Ordinary things. But maybe ordinary doesn't mean insignificant. Sometimes we forget that the ability to walk, drive, see the changing sky, feel the breeze, read a book, or simply move through another ordinary day is a blessing. Maybe some of the joy we keep searching for is already present in the routines we have stopped noticing. So today, I want to invite each of us to pay attention. Think about the routines you repeat every day, and beside the ones that truly bring joy to your heart, place a little check mark in your mind. ✓ You may discover that your life contains more joy than you realized. Not only in the extraordinary moments. Not only in celebrations. But right there, in the beautiful simplicity of your ordinary routines. BW
