Searching for Alissa: The Truth About Her Father’s Arrest

**Alissa Turney disappearance. Alissa Turney case. Sarah Turney. Michael Turney.** This **true crime documentary** examines the disappearance of 17-year-old Alissa Turney from Phoenix, Arizona, in 2001—and the investigation that followed more than two decades later. Alissa Turney disappeared on May 17, 2001, the last day of her junior year of high school. Her stepfather, Michael Turney, told police that Alissa had run away to California and left behind a handwritten note. But Alissa also left behind her cell phone, nearly $1,800 in savings, and personal belongings that friends and family said she would not have abandoned if she were planning to leave. Her disappearance was initially classified as a runaway case. For years, Alissa's younger sister, **Sarah Turney**, refused to accept that explanation. Sarah spent decades searching for answers, eventually bringing national attention to the **Alissa Turney case** through her podcast and social media. Then investigators searching Michael Turney's Phoenix home in 2008 discovered explosives, firearms, silencers, and a document describing what appeared to be a bombing plot. The document also contained Michael Turney's own theory about Alissa's disappearance. In 2020, Michael Turney was arrested and indicted on a second-degree murder charge in connection with Alissa's disappearance. His trial began in 2023. After the prosecution presented its case, the judge granted the defense motion for acquittal, and Michael Turney was released. Alissa Turney's body has never been found, and her disappearance remains an open case. In this **Alissa Turney true crime documentary**, Crime Ninja TV examines the timeline of her disappearance, the runaway theory, Sarah Turney's investigation, the evidence discovered at Michael Turney's home, the arrest, and the 2023 trial. **What do you think happened to Alissa Turney?** Leave your theory in the comments. Two Teenage Girls Took a Wrong Turn… 20 Years Later, DNA Solved Everything

Two teenage best friends. One wrong turn. And a murder case that remained unsolved for nearly 20 years. On July 31, 1999, 17-year-old J.B. Beasley and her best friend Tracie Hawlett were celebrating J.B.'s birthday when they became lost on the roads around Ozark, Alabama. They stopped at a gas station for directions and made a phone call home telling Tracie's mother they were on their way back. They never made it home. The next morning, the girls were discovered inside the trunk of J.B.'s car. Both had been shot, and investigators were left with a case that would haunt southeast Alabama for decades. For years, detectives chased leads, collected DNA samples and investigated suspects, but the case remained cold. Then came a technology that didn't exist when the girls were murdered: investigative genetic genealogy. A DNA profile and genealogy research eventually led investigators to Coley McCraney, a local truck driver and part-time preacher. In 2019, he was arrested and charged in connection with the murders. In 2023, after more than two decades of unanswered questions, McCraney was convicted and sentenced to life without parole. This is the story of J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett, the investigation that refused to die, and the DNA breakthrough that finally brought the case to court. Why Has No One Found Amber Cates?

On April 11, 2004, 16-year-old Amber Elizabeth Cates left her mother's home in Columbia, Tennessee, in a gold Mazda. She was supposed to be heading away for spring break. She never arrived. More than 22 years later, Amber Cates remains missing. What makes this case so haunting is what happened afterward. Her Social Security number was never used again. Her cell phone was never used again. Her driving record showed no activity. And the original runaway theory eventually began to fall apart. Investigators say Amber was last known to be with adults who gave different accounts of where she had gone. One account placed her at a Waffle House. Another said she was dropped off at a garage in Columbia after buying hair dye. That garage has never been publicly identified. Then, in March 2024, Maury County Sheriff Bucky Rowland announced that investigators had what he described as a potentially promising new lead. Evidence was reportedly sent for analysis — but authorities did not publicly reveal what the lead or evidence was. As of the information covered in this video, Amber Cates remains missing and no one has been publicly charged in connection with her disappearance. This video examines the timeline, the conflicting accounts, the unexplained garage, the hair-dye detail, the years of unsuccessful sightings, and the mysterious 2024 development. **If you have information about Amber Cates, contact the Maury County Sheriff's Office or the FBI Nashville Field Office.** What do YOU think happened to Amber? Was she planning to disappear, or did someone make sure she never came home? And what do you think the new lead from 2024 could be?
