The Daly Dose is a collection of Scripture-centered Bible studies and theological teaching. I began recording these talks to supplement my weekly in-person Bible study nights—so they could be accessed, revisited, or shared more easily. These studies represent my attempt to synthesize what I’ve learned through Scripture, theological study, and engagement with the broader Christian tradition. I draw from many authors, teachers, and conversations, seeking to explore God’s Word carefully and faithfully, encouraging listeners to be Bereans and test everything against Scripture.

    #17 Reading the Gospels with Jewish Ears

    The Gospel writers were deeply shaped by the Scriptures of Israel, and they often tell the story of Jesus in ways that echo earlier biblical patterns and themes. In this study, we slow down and explore some of those connections — looking at how the Gospels echo the stories of Moses, Elijah, Elisha, the Exodus, and Israel’s wilderness journey. Along the way, we consider how first-century Jewish readers may have heard these stories, and how recognizing those echoes can deepen the way we read Scripture today.

    #16 The Fear of the LORD

    The phrase “fear of the LORD” appears throughout Scripture—but what does it actually mean? In this study, we trace the theme from Genesis to the New Testament, looking at how fear, holiness, wisdom, love, obedience, and nearness to God relate to one another. Rather than forcing a quick definition, we slow down and let the pattern of Scripture come into focus, asking what it really means to live before God.

    #15 Hearing Romans 8:28

    Romans 8:28 is one of the most familiar verses in Scripture—but also one of the most easily assumed. In this study, we slow down and revisit the passage in context, tracing Paul’s argument and asking what he is actually saying. Rather than building from a single phrase, we follow the full section to see how the meaning comes into focus.

    #14 God, Justice, and Violence

    Some Old Testament passages raise difficult questions—especially where God appears to command violence. How do we reconcile these with His goodness? In this study, we slow down and examine the conquest narratives in their biblical and historical context, considering God’s justice, patience, and the language of the text. Ultimately, we follow the story forward to Jesus, where justice and mercy meet at the cross.

    #13 Hebrews 6 — Letting the Text Speak

    Hebrews 6 is one of the most discussed passages in the NewTestament, and readers have wrestled with it in many different ways. In this study, rather than beginning with those debates, we slow down and simply read the passage carefully. By tracing the flow of the argument and paying close attention to the language, we ask a foundational question: what happens when we let the text speak before we try to answer any theological questions surrounding it?

    Rediscovering Communion (Bonus Episode)

    In this bonus reflection, we take a closer look at one of the most familiar practices in the Christian life: communion — something many believers participate in regularly, yet often take for granted. Is the Lord’s Supper simply a symbolic reminder of the cross, or does Scripture point to something deeper? In this study, we slow down and examine what the Bible says about communion, how the earliest Christians understood it, and why the Lord’s Table held such an important place in the life of the church.

    When “Spirit-Led” Drifts: Lessons from the Early Church (Bonus Episode)

    In this bonus reflection, we examine what we really mean when we say “Spirit-led.” Is spiritual vitality the same as spontaneity? Is structure inherently unspiritual? Looking to Scripture and the witness of the early church, we consider how certain instincts—however sincere—can begin to separate spiritual experience from the visible, ordered life of the Church. The early Christians had to confront similar patterns. This episode argues that the Holy Spirit does not operate in tension with Scripture, leadership, or church structure, but through them. A healthy, biblical vision of the Church holds together Word and Spirit, vitality and order, freedom and faithfulness.

    #12 Rapture, End Times, and Reading Prophecy Carefully

    In this study, we examine several passages often used in discussions about the rapture and the end times — including 1 Thessalonians 4, Daniel 8, and Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21. Rather than beginning with a system or timeline, we slow down and ask a simpler question: What do these texts actually say? We’ll consider how prophecy functions in Scripture, how historical fulfillment shapes our reading, and how Jesus’ own words in the Olivet Discourse should guide our understanding.
