Across the Aisle with Doug Jones

Alabama’s race for Governor is taking shape, and former U.S. Senator Doug Jones is making his case for why voters should take another look at what he brings to the table. In a candid one-on-one, Blair Castro and Thomas Jenkins sit down with Doug Jones to talk about why he’s running, how he says he differs from Republican opponent Tommy Tuberville, and some of the biggest issues and controversies shaping Alabama politics. We get into affordability, gas prices, data centers and the rise of AI. Jones talks about the political divide, why he believes extremes on both sides can be harmful, finding common ground across party lines, and accusations from opponents that he is a “communist” or “socialist.” We also discuss media bias and whether candidates are getting a fair shake from news outlets, plus some of the more controversial political rhetoric making headlines, from transgender and “furry” airline pilots to Tuberville’s comments about gas prices and voters who supported President Trump. Jones also talks about bringing decorum back to government, listening to Alabamians instead of simply telling voters what they want to hear, and why he believes he’s the right candidate to lead the state. Politics, affordability, AI, media, culture wars and the future of Alabama. We cover a lot of ground in this one!  Blair Castro and Thomas Jenkins sit down with Doug Jones on The People’s Voice in this brand-new episode that kicks off Season Four!
