Does it Matter Where You Inject Your GLP-1?

A patient switches her weekly GLP-1 injection from her abdomen to her arm in the middle of a frustrating plateau, and within days the scale starts moving again. She is convinced the site made the difference. Rick and Greg hear this story often in clinic, and in this episode they walk through what is actually happening physiologically versus what is more likely coincidence. In this episode, Rick Sorensen, MD and Greg Camp, FNP break down: Why the abdomen, thigh, and upper arm are the three approved subcutaneous sites for semaglutide and tirzepatide (Ozempic, Wegovi, Mounjaro, Zepbound, and compounded versions)What the FDA label and manufacturer data actually show about drug exposure and absorption across those three sitesWhy so many people are convinced one site works better, and what plateaus and correlation versus causation have to do with itThe decades-old insulin teaching that still shapes injection habits today, and why it does not carry over to a once-weekly GLP-1How to rotate within a site to avoid lipohypertrophy (that lumpy, thickened tissue) without needing to switch body parts entirelyInjection etiquette that applies to any subcutaneous shot: clean skin, letting the alcohol dry, avoiding visible blood vessels, never reusing needles, and keeping insulin and GLP-1 injections separatedA cautionary (and pretty funny) story about patients who spent over a month injecting air without realizing itThis episode is for education and information only. Please talk with your medical provider or pharmacist before starting, changing, or stopping any medication, weight loss program, or exercise routine, and ask for a hands-on demonstration of your injection technique if you have any questions at all. Next up, we are tackling oral GLP-1s for anyone who would rather skip the needle altogether. Follow the show so you do not miss it, and stick around, because we have some exciting news about the Healthier Ever After brand coming very soon. The FDA Peptide Vote

Peptides are all over the internet right now, and the headline is everywhere: the government voted, so they must be legal. In this episode, Rick Sorensen and Greg Camp separate what actually happened from what is being sold to you. When the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee met this past July to consider seven peptides, the agency's own scientists had already recommended rejecting every one of them. The panel voted the other way six times in a row, on a committee that had been reconstituted just weeks earlier. Rick and Greg explain what that vote really means, why nothing has legally changed, and why the approval road ahead is still one to two years long at best. They also look hard at the science behind popular peptides like BPC-157, and at what forensic testing has found inside products bought from unregulated sources. In this episode: What the July FDA committee vote actually did, and why peptides are still not legal to compoundA plain-English explanation of what peptides are and how compounding approval worksWhy the FDA's own scientists recommended no on all sevenWhat the human evidence behind BPC-157 really showsWhat forensic testing found in seized, unregulated peptidesWhat this means for patients, prescribers, and athletesIf peptides are on your radar, this is a practical, science-first, judgment-free guide to where things really stand.
