    Coast Football Weekly – Ep. 30 | 2026 MPL & WPL Grand Final Special

    In the final episode of Coast Football Weekly for 2026, it’s all about the biggest weekend of the season as we preview the Men’s and Women’s Premier League Grand Finals. We’re joined by Budgewoi’s Josh Swadling ahead of a rematch with Southern & Ettalong. Josh reflects on missing last year’s Grand Final through injury, his previous Grand Final success on the Coast and what Budgewoi need to do to turn last year’s heartbreak into Premiership glory. Southern & Ettalong captain Todd Balneaves joins us as his side looks to defend its MPL Premiership. Todd reflects on leading Southern to their first Premiership since 1997 last season, the special family connection to that triumph, their journey back to the Grand Final and what it will take to go back-to-back against Budgewoi. Attention then turns to the WPL, where Killarney captain Lucy Metcalfe discusses leading her side into a second consecutive Grand Final as their incredible two-year unbeaten run continues. She looks back on Killarney’s success, her experiences with Gosford earlier in her career and what she expects from another Grand Final showdown with the Rams. Finally, East Gosford’s Emma Hurley gives us the view from the other side her side prepares for a second straight Grand Final against Killarney. We discuss their 2026 campaign, the lessons from last year’s decider and what it will take to become the first side in two years to defeat Killarney.

    Coast Football Weekly – Ep. 29 | Featuring: Kaitlin Murphy, Jamie Bartlett & Steve Greenaway

    In this week’s episode of Coast Football Weekly, we’re joined by three guests as the 2026 season reaches its business end. First up, Kaitlin Murphy joins us from Killarney’s Women’s Premier League side following another unbeaten League Championship season and a Major Semi-Final victory that secured a second consecutive Grand Final appearance. We look back on another incredible year, the culture and success behind Killarney’s women’s program and what lies ahead on Grand Final day. We then chat with Doyalson player-coach Jamie Bartlett following his side’s huge 3-0 victory over Toukley in the promotion/relegation play-off series. Jamie reflects on the result, Doyalson’s season as a whole and the battle to secure their place in the MPL for 2027. Finally, we’re joined by Avoca Women’s Division 1 head coach Steve, who has guided the Sharks to a second consecutive League Championship in his first season in charge. We discuss his coaching journey, taking over an already successful side, their Major Semi-Final victory and the possibility of Avoca stepping up into the WPL.

    Coast Football Weekly – Ep. 27 | Featuring: Ray Seers

    In this episode of Coast Football Weekly, we’re joined by Avoca Sharks First Grade head coach Ray Seers after leading the club back into the Men’s Premier League in his first season at the club. We take a deep dive into Avoca’s entire 2026 campaign, from Ray’s appointment and rebuilding a side that had suffered back-to-back relegations, through pre-season, the Association Cup and an impressive start to the Division One season. Ray takes us through the Sharks’ incredible run towards promotion, including their dominant early-season form, the challenges they faced as teams began to adapt to them, their battle with Kincumber at the top of the table and the late-season defeat to Doyalson before promotion was eventually secured without Avoca even taking the field. We also discuss what promotion means to Avoca, what lies ahead for the Sharks in the MPL, Ray’s thoughts on the upcoming promotion/relegation play-off series, and what success would look like for him over the next 12 months.

Mason reflects on his year travelling across the Central Coast, visiting local grounds, capturing matches and meeting the players, volunteers and characters who make grassroots football what it is. We chat about his favourite Around the Park moments, the grounds and clubs that have stood out, and what he has enjoyed most about showcasing local football from a different perspective. Mason also shares his own football journey, where his love for the game began, the clubs he supports and how that passion eventually led to the creation of Sideline Thrills. We also discuss his experiences travelling across NSW to photograph NPL football in Sydney and Newcastle, his love for the Mariners, an we take a look at what’s next for Sideline Thrills.     In this episode of Coast Football Weekly, we're joined by one of the Central Coast's most experienced football figures, Ian McAndrew. Having been involved in First Grade football since the age of 15, Ian reflects on a career that has taken him through local football, representative football in Sydney, a Central Coast Mariners appearance, representing Australia in futsal, coaching, and leading clubs both on and off the field. We begin by discussing East Gosford's 2026 season and Ian's decision to step away from coaching before diving into his football journey, from his early days in the game to some of the biggest moments of his career. Ian also shares stories from his time at Wyoming, Gosford City, Central Coast United and Ourimbah, including promotion campaigns, coaching experiences and the highs and lows that have shaped his football journey.

    Coast Football Weekly – Ep. 23 | Featuring: Wayne Young

    In this episode of Coast Football Weekly, we’re joined by one of the most respected figures in Central Coast refereeing, Wayne Young. Wayne has dedicated decades to the game, not only as a referee but as a mentor to the next generation of match officials. In his current role, he oversees and supports our youngest referees, helping them develop the confidence, knowledge and skills to officiate football across the Coast. We discuss how Wayne first got involved in refereeing, what has kept him involved for so many years, and what his role behind the scenes looks like today. We also explore how refereeing has evolved over the years, the challenges young referees face, and why creating a positive environment is so important for retaining officials. Wayne also reflects on the honour of having the Wayne Young Award named after him, the recognition of being awarded a patch of grass at Pluim Park, and the legacy he hopes to leave for refereeing on the Central Coast.
