    "Rubber Trees All Around Us"**

    Send us Fan Mail "Before the words begin...breathe... and step into this moment with me." ~~ Slater Hayes This episode is merely the capturing of all that we have previously endured.   The instrument that is designed to inflict the continuing pains may have changed-but the spirit that dwells within those who heve been possessed by it has not. That spirit-ITS' name -HATRED! A hatred that continues to foment generational hate and is steadfast in its ambition to design systems that continue to rob US of what is inherently ours.  The right to exist within the confines of a system purportedly designed to ensure life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The question I pose is this. Do you think that you continuing to implement... "Rubber Trees All Around Us" will prevent my people from exhibiting the resilience that we have displayed for generations to suddenly collapse under the weight of your aged recipe rooted in HATRED? i hope not.  What it will do is produce a movement that is sustainable and includes persons from within all ethnicities-each ready to confront you in all aspects of life. OUR SPIRIT...LIVES1 PEACE

    "Hoodwinked and Bamboozled"***

    Send us Fan Mail We, it seems, have been programmed, in a very special way, to not appreciate the success and the achievements of OUR OWN. The level of negativity or hate that we publicly cast upon those  within our community seems to far exceed that of other communities. Some will emphatically say "Man please, that occurs with other races just as bad." Maybe it does, but I am not addressing them right now. WE seem to have been taught that to celebrate another's success is taboo or is not necessary. We have been  "Hoodwinked and Bamboozled" ...into believing that we should always carry on QUIETLY and to celebrate is to fall short of what we have been taught to exercise throughout our lives -throughout our heritage. To demonstrate anything other than HUMILITY has been drilled into us as an abomination. We now even exhibit this towards our kids and oftentimes fail to celebrate them after they have achieved success.  "Act like you have been there before" was, and it seems still is, the go to line when our children, and anyone for that matter, attains an achievement for which they have strived and arduously completed the necessary work to attain it. Yes, I do believe the celebrations should be measured. But there is NOTHING more powerful than 5 simple words. "I AM PROUD Of YOU"! And yes, SHOUTING IT FROM the ROOFTOP" is just as powerful as the gifting of that shiny new car, that trip to Europe, that Florida spring break, that outlandishly large allowance, that we have observed on television or witnessed first hand ? Those 5 words carry tremendous weight and sharing it via FB, IG, TikTok, or the ROOF is not exercising a lack of humility. Stop allowing this system to make you believe you are doing something wrong when you celebrate the successes of your children and others around you. It may just be the encouragement one needs to pursue even GREATER THINGS!!! OUR SPIRIT...LIVES! PEACE!

    Send us Fan Mail "Before the words begin.... take a breath...and step into this moment with me." ~~~Slater Hayes, Your Poet Activist HE indeed has been and STILL is the author of my story-for that I am IMMENSELY grateful. To keep this short, as I continue to compose myself as I reflect...I have but one request-that request is that you, if you have not already done so, SUBMIT and ask HIM to ... "WRITE YOUR (MY) STORY" ...it is just that simple. OUR SPIRIT...LIVES! PEACE!

    "I Ain't Made to be Contained"

    Send us Fan Mail I was inspired to redo this piece ...it speaks volumes as to how we allow circumstance, the thoughts and beliefs of others, and MORE IMPOTRANTLY, FEAR to dictate how we move-how we pursue those things that have been ordained specifically for us. So, once you have listened, re-listened, and chewed the cud...like it and SHARE-NOT JUST WITH ONE FRIEND-EVERYONE-REGARDLESS of AGE!! Because I am ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN there is someone outside and within your known sphere of influence that NEEDS to hear it. OUR SPIRIT...LIVES! PEACE!

    'Stinky Stanky, Stench"***

    Send us Fan Mail Current conditions necessitate that I  republish this piece!!! ...and the sad part is...many are still reveling in the fact that the person that they so giddily chose to represent THEM is boisterously seeking to eliminate many of the things that help to sustain THEM This cultish behavior is clearly rooted in RACISM.  For those who resemble me-I can only deduce that the selfishness of "I got mine, you get yours", has warped their senses. Stinky, Stanky, Stench  was written during the first term of the "guy" that currently occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It was bad then, and I honestly knew that if he was re-elected in 2024, that things would be abundantly worse. However, I have not given up, nor given in. For just as I knew, I also know that things will become SO MUCH BETTER. I encourage all to remain prayerful and don't allow current circumstance(s) to dim your hope. OUR SPIRIT...LIVES! PEACE!

    "The Good in Me"

    Send us Fan Mail This piece sums it up pretty good. Those things I shared are indeed what I felt here-recently.  Despite lending an ear, an empathetic heart, and a willing spirit to assist-it seems that all those attributes were somehow twisted and turned into a personal attempt to gain favor-or highlight others' weaknesses. No this ain't no pity party. This is a reflection of what I was personally experiencing at this juncture of my journey.  Yea, some will quickly state, "why worry about how people feel about you?" My answer, "BECAUSE I AM HUMAN", and despite what others may think as they seek me out for advice, guidance, THE WORD, financial assistance, or other things that may help to smooth their individual journeys-I may sometimes be in need of that listening ear, an encouraging word or a compassionate heart. ...I think this inspired piece sums up what I have experienced, lately. However, don't get it twisted. I still will, as the kids say, "DO ME".  That part of me that will guide me, so that others will continue to see... "The Good in Me" despite how they CHOOSE to sometimes use it for their personal advantage. WHY?  Because I have my heart fixed on bigger things-BIGGER REWARDS!! OUR SPIRIT...LIVES! PEACE!

    'Ohhh, The Beauty"

    Send us Fan Mail My friend Bettye Holmes-Smith inspired me to dig into the library, revise and repost this piece. Everyone who is our age...Thank God that you are, and then stop looking at what once was and look to the purpose, promise and HOPE that continues to reside within...and step into ALL that GOD has instilled in you and seek HIS grace to bring it to fruition.  I AM having a ball taking this thing called "The SPOKEN WORD" and only now am I coming to recognize the significance of the words that HE inspired me to write-MANY of them more than several years ago. "Ohhh, The Beauty" of the MARVELOUS things that dwell within...waiting to be set free. So, don't allow age and the achievement of what we consider our ONE PURPOSE to put the brakes on the numerous other things  that are simply awaiting you to set them free...  OUR SPIRIT...LIVES! PEACE!
