    Functional exercise for MS and non-antibiotic treatment for UTIs.

    We all know exercise is good for us! In this episode, Ian Cook talks to Dr Gretchen Hawley about why the reasons why go so much deeper when you have multiple sclerosis. Dr Gretchen explains what functional exercise is and it's difference to regular exercise. You CAN get stronger when you have MS, but it's all about strengthening and creating new neural pathways. Dr Gretchen has seen clients improve foot drop in just two or three days by practising in this way. Ian also chats with neurologist and honorary professor Chris Harding about Hiprex, a non-antibiotic treatment for UTIs which Ian himself has had success with. They discuss bladder issues when you have MS.

    MS and the workplace, MS and dry eyes

    Host Ian Cooks speaks with HR expert and fellow MSer Rebecca Armstrong about why MS causes so many workplace problems. Up to 80 per cent of people with MS leave their job within 10 years of a diagnosis. Rebecca explains what your rights are under the Equality Act 2010 and passes on helpful advice for both people in the workplace with MS, as well as their employers. Ian also chats to Bill Harvey, a specialist optometrist, about the surprisingly common  symptom of MS, dry eyes, and what can be done to help.

    Let's Talk MS Medical cannabis and low-dose naltrexone

    How helpful is cannabis-based medication for people with multiple sclerosis? Ian Cook speaks to Professor Mike Barns, Chief Medical Officer at Drug Science, a group which works to provide an evidence base free from political or commercial influence. Proff Barns explains the work they are doing to make accessing cannabis-based medicine easier to access for people with multiple sclerosis, and how it can benefit patients. We also hear from an MS patient who has been prescribed Sativex, a licenced cannabis-based medication, and their experiences with it. Low-dose naltrexone is an off-licence medication that some people with MS say improves their symptoms. Linda Elsegood is the founder of The LDN Trust and has made it her life's work to try to get people with MS access to this drug. She tells Ian how the treatment completely changed her life.

    Nicknamed The Iceman, Wim Hof is known for putting celebrities through their paces in cold-climate challenges. He says his method of special breathing, commitment and cold exposure can help people take control of their multiple sclerosis symptoms, and there are testimonials from people with MS online who have found relief with his teachings. Ian Cook speaks to an enthusiastic Wim about the science behind his method. Plus, Sally Darby was a young mum with MS who looked for a space for disabled mothers like herself to talk about their experiences and couldn't find one, so she set up her own. She discusses parenting with a disability, mum guilt, and how things are gradually changing for the better.
