First of a three part true story of my sisters, who like so many others, were evacuated from London at the beginning of World II.     Send us Fan Mail Wally Gletherow is alone in London, carrying out his duties as Air Raid Warden, and missing his family. The family have to leave the "Big House" and have to endure hardship before being "rescued". The homecoming.     Send us Fan Mail War is declared. The children arrive in the town of Bletchingdon, in Oxfordshire. They are marched to the Village Hall for billeting. Being among the last few, they are taken in by Lady Bailey of Bletchingdon Park.     Evacuees - Episode 1 Operation Pied Piper

    Send us Fan Mail My family are living in Canning Town, in the East End of London, close to the Royal Docks. It's late summer, 1939 and rumours are rife about an impending war with Germany. The government are encouraging families to send their children out of London, in anticipation of heavy bombing once war is declared. The children would be taken to safe areas far away from the city, but for security reasons parents would not be informed where or when.
