    28. Point Pinos Lighthouse

    This week, Mom takes us to the California coast to tell the story of Point Pinos Lighthouse — the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the West Coast. Standing in Pacific Grove since the 1850s, the lighthouse has spent generations guiding ships through the dark waters of Monterey Bay. But with that much history comes plenty of stories about those who may have never left. Mom dives into the history of the lighthouse, the people who once called it home, and the strange activity visitors and staff have reported over the years.     27. Travis Walton Abduction

    This week, Becca is bringing aliens back to the podcast with one of the most famous alleged abduction stories of all time — Travis Walton. In 1975, Travis was working on a logging crew in the forests of Arizona when he and six coworkers spotted a strange light in the woods. Travis got out of the truck to investigate, approached the mysterious craft, and according to his coworkers, was struck by a beam of light before they fled in fear. When they returned, Travis was gone. For five days, authorities searched for him while suspicion quickly turned toward the men who had last seen him. Then, Travis suddenly reappeared with an unbelievable story about where he had been and what he claimed happened aboard a craft not from this world. A story that has been questioned and debated for decades — including by prominent UFO skeptic Philip J. Klass, who challenged the loggers’ account and argued there were reasons to doubt their story. But despite the skepticism, accusations of a hoax, and more than 50 years of scrutiny, Travis Walton and the other men have continued to stand by what they say happened in those Arizona woods that night. Once one of the wildest places in the Old West, the Bird Cage saw gambling, drinking, performances, violence, and death—and today, many believe some of its former patrons and performers never left. Then, Becca heads to Broadway in Los Angeles to explore the Palace Theatre. Once a glamorous vaudeville theater that welcomed some of the biggest performers of its time, the Palace later became a movie house and even found its way into Hollywood history. But behind the stage and throughout its old balconies are stories of shadowy figures, unexplained activity, and performers who may still be waiting for one last show.
