The Lean Life Podcast l Episode 14: The Power of Surrender

My Final Episode Before Maternity Leave As I head into maternity leave, I wanted to leave you with the message that has shaped my entire pregnancy—and honestly, my own healing journey: the power of letting go. So much of life encourages us to plan, control, research, and search for certainty. Whether it's nutrition, fertility, healing, motherhood, or simply navigating change, it's easy to believe that the answers exist somewhere outside of us. But what if your greatest wisdom has been within you all along? In this heartfelt final episode before I return this fall, I'm sharing why surrender has become one of my greatest teachers, how fear often disguises itself as control, and why learning to trust your body, your intuition, and your own inner wisdom may be the most powerful form of healing there is. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, stuck in perfectionism, constantly looking for the "right" answer, or afraid of the unknown, I hope this conversation brings you a sense of peace and reminds you that you don't have to have everything figured out. As I often tell my clients, my role has never been to give you all the answers—it's to help guide you back to the ones you already carry within yourself. Thank you for being part of this incredible community and for allowing me to be part of your health journey. I'll be taking maternity leave through the fall and plan to return to seeing clients in early November with a modified schedule for both virtual and in-person appointments. While I'm away, you'll still receive monthly newsletters and new content each week on social media, and I'll continue checking messages periodically if you'd like to reach out, ask a question, share an update, or reserve an appointment for my return. Until then, slow down. Breathe. Trust yourself. You are your own best healer. The Lean Life Podcast l Episode 13: What I Would Do If I Were Trying to Conceive (TTC)

If I were starting my fertility journey today, this is exactly what I would focus on. In this deeply personal episode, I'm sharing my own path to pregnancy—from years of hypothalamic amenorrhea, restrictive eating, over-exercising, and being told I may be infertile, to rebuilding my health, reconnecting with my body, and eventually becoming pregnant with my daughter. We'll talk about why fertility is about so much more than timing and luck. Your body is constantly responding to the environment you create through nutrition, movement, stress, sleep, and overall lifestyle. While every journey is unique, there is so much within your control to support your reproductive health. In this episode, we'll cover: ● My personal fertility story and the lessons it taught me ● The biggest nutrition and lifestyle changes I'd make if I were trying to conceive today ● How healing your relationship with food, exercise, and your body can support hormone balance ● Why finding a healthy, sustainable weight matters more than chasing your leanest body ● Understanding and tracking your menstrual cycle to identify your fertile window ● Important lab work and nutrient testing to consider, including thyroid health, blood sugar, iron, vitamin D, and more ● The role of gut health, hormones, environmental toxins, and endocrine disruptors ● How stress and your nervous system influence ovulation and fertility ● Simple daily habits to improve sleep, reduce inflammation, and create an environment where fertility can thrive ● My favorite foundational supplements for both women and men ● Why letting go of perfection and learning to trust your body may be one of the most powerful parts of the journey Whether you're actively trying to conceive, thinking about starting a family in the future, or simply want to optimize your hormone health, this episode is filled with practical, evidence-based strategies and heartfelt encouragement. Remember: your body isn't working against you—it's communicating with you. By slowing down, nourishing yourself, and creating a foundation of safety and balance, you can give your body the support it needs to do what it was designed to do. I hope this conversation helps you feel empowered, hopeful, and a little less alone on your journey. The Lean Life Podcast l Episode 12: Leaky Gut – The Missing Link Between Your Gut, Immune System & Whole-Body Health

Have you ever wondered if "leaky gut" is actually real—or just another wellness buzzword? In this episode of The Lean Life Podcast, we're separating fact from fiction and taking a deep dive into one of the most talked-about topics in gut health: intestinal permeability, better known as leaky gut. Your gut lining is designed to act as a protective barrier, allowing nutrients to enter your bloodstream while keeping bacteria, toxins, and undigested food particles where they belong. But when that barrier becomes compromised, it can trigger inflammation throughout the body and contribute to symptoms far beyond the digestive system. In this episode, you'll learn: ● What leaky gut is and how it develops ● The role of the gut lining, tight junctions, and your immune system ● The most common root causes, including dysbiosis, SIBO, chronic stress, medications, processed foods, infections, and nutrient deficiencies ● Signs and symptoms to look for, from bloating and food sensitivities to skin issues, fatigue, brain fog, hormone imbalances, and autoimmune conditions ● The connection between leaky gut, inflammation, and long-term health ● Functional testing options, including the GI-MAP, zonulin, and other ways to evaluate gut health ● Evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle strategies to support healing ● My favorite gut-healing supplements, including L-glutamine, aloe vera, marshmallow root, slippery elm, zinc carnosine, collagen, and omega-3 fats ● Why eliminating more and more foods isn't usually the answer—and how to focus on rebuilding a healthy gut instead ● The powerful connection between emotional boundaries, chronic stress, and physical healing As a Registered Dietitian, I've experienced gut healing personally and have helped many clients improve their digestion, reduce inflammation, restore energy, and feel like themselves again. The good news? Your gut lining is constantly renewing itself, and with the right support, it has an incredible ability to heal. Whether you're dealing with bloating, IBS, food sensitivities, autoimmune disease, chronic inflammation, or you're simply curious about optimizing your gut health, this episode will give you practical, science-backed tools to start healing from the inside out. The Lean Life Podcast l Episode 8: Healing From Within: Autoimmunity & Nervous System Regulation

In this episode, I sit down with my best friend, Lauren Folan, to have an honest conversation about autoimmunity, type 1.5 diabetes, and the deep connection between physical healing and nervous system regulation.
