    Hungarian GP Preview 2026

    I previewed the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring, breaking down why this track ranks fifth for energy richness and will favor chassis over engine given its twisty nature, the complete opposite of Spa. This marks the last race before the summer break, so teams are bringing final upgrades before shutting down, most notably Aston Martin. I covered the track's history as the first race held behind the Iron Curtain back in 1986, and why it gets nicknamed Monaco without the walls thanks to drivers spending three quarters of the lap turning, more than any other circuit. With high tire deg and difficult passing, qualifying matters here almost as much as Monaco, and I went through the stats showing how rarely anyone wins from outside the top five. I shared my predictions alongside Alex's for pole, podium, and finishers, and dug into the ongoing Mercedes reliability drama, including George Russell's furious radio rant from Spa about losing battery power down the straight, and Toto Wolff taking the blame while also noting both Mercedes cars had deployment issues. I discussed how this race could go a long way in determining whether the championship stays close or if Antonelli starts running away with it.     Brilliance in Belgium | Belgian GP Review 2026

    I recapped the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, breaking down a wild weekend that started with Piastri losing hydraulic pressure in FP1 and missing chunks of practice, continuing McLaren's frustrating trend of reliability issues. Norris also came into the weekend already facing a ten place grid penalty for exceeding his battery allocation, his fourth of the season already. Antonelli looked strong all weekend, topping FP2 and FP3 before taking pole position, while George Russell struggled all weekend with a mysterious straight line speed deficit compared to his teammate that he just could not shake. That issue came back to bite him when he and Hamilton collided fighting for position, sending Russell into the gravel and out of the race, while Hamilton picked up a five second penalty. I broke down the two separate red flags from gravel on track, the LeClerc and Piastri contact that got called a racing incident despite my disagreement with the ruling, and Hamilton's chaotic pit stop where a mechanic was knocked done in an attempt to adjust the front wing. In the end, Antonelli held on to beat LeClerc and Verstappen for the win, with Bortoletto continuing to impress for Audi. I gave out driver of the day to Antonelli, went through how our season long predictions held up, and updated the constructors and drivers championship standings with Antonelli leading Hamilton and Russell at the top.     I previewed the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, breaking down what to expect at the longest track on the calendar. Spa was introduced in 1921 as an 8.8 mile circuit through the Ardennes forest before being cut to its current 4.3 mile layout in 1979, and it remains a fan favorite despite its grim history. I discussed how the circuit's unique microclimate makes rain an ever-present possibility, which could shake up the running order and give us the wet weather racing we haven't really seen yet this season. With five Straight line zones and 102 meters of elevation change, energy management will be crucial around Spa. I also covered the latest news including Carlos Sainz publicly criticizing Williams over their performance struggles, the FIA's safety discussions with Red Bull and Ferrari over their active rear wing systems following Verstappen's back to back crashes, and whether several drivers might take grid penalties with fresh power units at this power sensitive circuit. I wrapped up with my predictions for pole position, podium finishes, and race results, sharing Alex's predictions as well to keep our season long competition going.
