After six years as a crisis counsellor, she doubted graduate schools would take a chance on her, until a mentor told her that her GPA didn't tell her whole story. An adult ADHD diagnosis during her master's reframed years of academic struggle as a brain that works differently, and she built a career that uses how she thinks rather than fighting it: VP of Clinical at a health tech startup, university professor, clinical supervisor, private practice therapist, and founder of a youth mental health non-profit. Her PhD research on South Asian parents and digital wellness grew out of her own childhood experience of online bullying.
