My Story: Part 7 (Bike Trip to Miami + Toronto Hospitalization)

In this episode, I dive into a pivotal chapter of my life, sharing my journey from a dark period of depression to finding hope and healing through a solo bicycle trip. After being diagnosed with bipolar type one in Australia, I returned to Toronto feeling lost and overwhelmed. I spent a year in bed, grappling with shame and guilt, unable to find motivation or joy in anything. The turning point came when I decided to embark on a bicycle trip, inspired by a previous adventure in France that brought me happiness. Despite my family's concerns, I knew I needed to take this journey for myself. The trip lasted three months, during which I pedaled from Toronto to Miami, reflecting on my life and slowly regaining my mental and physical health. Throughout the episode, I discuss the importance of self-care and the realization that I needed to prioritize my well-being before I could help others. I share insights into managing bipolar disorder, the significance of balancing different aspects of life, and the lessons learned from my travels. I also touch on my relationships, particularly with Izzy, who supported me through my struggles. Despite the challenges, I found clarity and a renewed sense of purpose. Now, I focus on living a balanced life, cherishing meaningful relationships, and pursuing projects that truly interest me. As I continue my journey, I remain committed to learning and growing, embracing each new experience with an open heart and mind.
