We Put God at the Center of Our Home. Everything Changed.

Jon and Danielle Mackin were already Christians, but looking back, they realized God was not truly at the center of their home. Their kids had seen conflict, their marriage lacked grace, and faith was mostly something they practiced on Sundays. In this episode of Our House with The Smylies, Jon and Danielle share how that began to change when they surrounded themselves with people who lived out their relationship with Jesus every day. Prayer, worship, grace, and repair slowly became part of their marriage and parenting. Now their kids still see disagreement, but they also see forgiveness, restoration, and a marriage they can feel secure in. Jon also shares how putting God at the center changed the way he approaches his business and trusts God with what comes next. If you want faith to become part of everyday family life, this conversation is a practical place to start. We Couldn't Get Pregnant Then Foster Care Made Us Parents

For eight years, Desi and Steve hoped and prayed for a child. When doctors told them pregnancy was no longer likely, they had to face the possibility that becoming parents might look completely different from what they had imagined. Then, during an anniversary dinner, Steve said the words Desi had been trying to avoid: “We’re being called to foster care.” In this episode, Desi and Steve share their honest journey through infertility, foster care, adoption, grief, faith, and learning to trust God when life did not go according to plan. They talk openly about the fear of becoming attached to a foster child, the heartbreak of reunification, the strain foster care placed on their marriage, and the moments when they questioned whether they could continue. Desi also shares a painful moment when a court decision left her angry with God, only to discover later that He had been working behind the scenes the entire time. Traveling with kids rarely goes exactly as planned. Flights get delayed, children have meltdowns, routines disappear, and something almost always goes wrong. After 14 years of traveling with four kids, Jason and Malia have learned that a successful family trip is not about avoiding the chaos. It is about preparing for it, staying on the same team, and remembering why you decided to travel together in the first place. In this episode, they talk honestly about the good, the bad, and the stressful parts of traveling with babies, young children, and teenagers. They share stories from airports, road trips, international flights, extended stays, and a family mission trip that changed their perspective on contentment and joy. Ashton Winningham had his own plans. He was building a business, thinking about moving to California, and figuring out what he wanted his future to look like. Ashton is a Bible college student and missionary from Las Vegas who followed God’s call to Peru, where he serves through Bible study, evangelism, discipleship, and mission work. In this episode, Jason and Malia sit down with Ashton to talk honestly about what it looks like to follow God when you do not have the whole plan figured out. In this episode, Jason and Malia talk honestly about why prayer can feel awkward, especially for new believers or couples who have never prayed together. Brian Davila: Jesus Gave Me the Peace Money Never Could

Brian Davila made millions in real estate, paid off his house, and bought $50,000 Rolexes. And he still woke up anxious, empty, and without peace. In this episode, the real estate millionaire and host of The Way sits down with us to tell the truth about having everything the world sells as success and still feeling like something was missing, until he gave his life to God and everything changed. This is one of the most honest conversations we've had on Our House. Brian opens up about the anxiety he carried his whole life and the moment it lifted after one prayer, the secret struggles with anger and pornography he never told anyone, and how confession and baptism set him free. He shares what it was like to build wealth alongside Ryan Pineda and still feel restless, and how faith finally gave him the peace that money never could. We also walk through the story of his son Joshua, who was born with Down syndrome. Brian and his wife were pushed hard by doctors to end the pregnancy, and they refused. He explains why every child is a gift made in the image of God, and why his family sees Joshua not as a burden but as a blessing. Malia, a nurse midwife who has delivered these diagnoses to families herself, brings a perspective you rarely hear on both sides of that room. Jason also shares his own testimony of being healed of lymphoma without chemotherapy, and together they talk about why God so often has to bring us to our knees before we finally look up. If you are chasing success, struggling to find peace, or trying to bring God to the center of your home, this one is for you. Youth Expert: The Biggest Mistake Parents of Teens Make

Every parent of a teenager knows the fear: your kid is pulling away, the conversations are getting shorter, and you wonder if you're slowly losing them. In this episode we sit down with Brandon Davis, a youth expert who spends around 80 hours a week with kids as the youth director at City Light Vegas, a regional Young Life director, and a former high school teacher. He's walked thousands of teenagers through the exact season your kids are in, and he names the single biggest mistake parents of teens make: correcting more than they connect. If you're a Christian parent trying to raise kids who keep their faith, this conversation is for you. Brandon breaks down why most people who follow Jesus come to faith before age 18 and why that number collapses after their twenties, what to do when your teen doesn't want to go to church, and how to bring church into your home when you can't get them through the doors. We talk about being a leader to your kids instead of just a friend, why connection has to come before correction, and what a dad leading the faith at home actually changes for a child's future. Jason and Malia also open up about their own discipline that was quietly disconnecting them from one of their boys, and how they course-corrected. This is an honest look at teenage rebellion, faith, and the long game of parenting, from someone who sees what happens behind the scenes in families every single day. Brandon is also a kingdom entrepreneur. He founded Ash Clothing, a Christ-centered streetwear brand built to help people wear their faith in a way that points back to God.
