Stardust & Fresh Perspective on Astrology, Moon Phases & Eclipses with Shannon Hugman

Guest Shannon Hugman discusses her work as an author, astrologer, yoga teacher, and retreat host, and says her focus is helping people trust their intuition and understand their connection to the universe. She describes how astrology first made sense to her, and explains her view that astrology describes energy patterns rather than determining a person’s choices. The conversation covers free will, horoscopes, the moon, full moons, and eclipses. Shannon says the moon is tied to emotional undercurrents, full moons can reveal what is emerging, and eclipses are stronger moments associated with alignment and surrender. She also talks about her books, including Dear Stardust and The Moon Cycles and Me Journal. She describes Dear Stardust as a story about self-worth, body positivity, periods, and the moon cycle, and says it is planned as the first book in a trilogy about daughter, mother, and grandmother relationships. Phoenix Rising: Reclaiming Freedom & Healing After Marital Abuse (part 2)

In this episode Lisa and Laurea continue their conversation with 'Stevie' about leaving an abusive marriage and the steps that helped her begin rebuilding her life. She talks about the day her and her children moved out, including the police intervening while she packed their things. 'Stevie' discusses the financial conflict that followed the separation and divorce, including accusations that the loss of money was her fault and reflects on the lesson that trusting a spouse is not a personal failing if that trust is betrayed. She also goes on to share about fighting for home equity, protecting her job, and eventually buying a home on her own. Through therapy she learned about “negative intimacy” in high-conflict co-parenting and how she used the 'Gray Rock Method' to avoid being drawn into emotional conflict. Most importantly, she talks about the support that helped her and her children recover, including therapy, friends, family, journaling, and online mental health resources. 'Stevie' also talked about dating again, realizing that she could trust again and how her relationship with her current husband, 'Chuck' evolved. Finally, she shares about becoming a professional pilot in midlife, and the importance of trusting our intuition, staying rooted in self-belief, and knowing that it is possible to rebuild after abuse. Phoenix Rising: Reclaiming Freedom & Healing After Marital Abuse (part 1)

Lisa and Laurea welcome 'Stevie' to the show to share her story of marital abuse in the first of a two-part series. She tells of a relationship that began in high school and later became a marriage with children, which at first felt supportive but eventually involved hidden contact with other women, denial, and repeated efforts to hold the family together. 'Stevie' also describes financial abuse, including hidden spending, gambling, loans, tax debt, drained retirement savings, and tools used to conceal the damage. They talk about the impact on the children and the escalating intimidation at home, including moving into the basement of the family home, finding cameras in the house, and being verbally abused and watched. The story continues in next week's episode, where the discussion will be about healing and rebuilding life after abuse. The Power of Words: The Energy Behind What You Say & Think

Laurea and Lisa discuss the power of words and the idea that language carries energy and reflect on how words can affect ourselves and other people, and why being intentional with what we say matters. Laurea shares a story about Debra Poneman’s near-death experience as an example of how words can influence a person’s state. They use that story to illustrate the impact of spoken language. (link to Debra's YouTube channel in show notes). They also talk about the challenge of being honest without slipping into toxic positivity and how to acknowledge difficult emotions while still avoiding language that deepens negativity, and note that it can be hard when we are verbally processing something difficult in real time. A major part of the conversation focuses on observing thoughts and emotions instead of being fully absorbed by them. Lisa describes this as stepping into the role of the observer, which can create distance from distress and help support a more balanced mindset. They also mention the need for therapy, regulation, and community support in harder situations. Then they connect the discussion to NLP and Laurea gives a personal example about dancing. A comment from childhood became a belief of “I can’t dance,” and they show how repeated language can reinforce a limitation. They give examples about how reframing words, such as adding “yet” or replacing absolutes like “never” and “always,” can shift that belief. Finally, they discuss inner speech, the written word, and examples involving water, plants, and music to show that energy is present in many forms. They close by returning to the idea that our words, beliefs, and actions shape what we experience. Making Sense of Your Clair Senses

This episode Lisa and Laurea talk about the clairsenses, or psychic senses, and how they can show up differently for each person. They explain that these abilities are natural, can be strengthened with practice, and often become clearer when we trust the information we receive. They start with clairvoyance, which they describe as clear seeing and talk about receiving visions, images, symbols, colors, and energy, and note that this can happen in different ways for different people. They also share that some people may not recognize this ability at first because they expect it to look a certain way. Then they cover claircognizance and clairsentience. Claircognizance is described as a clear sense of knowing, while clairsentience is a sense of feeling or sensing energy and emotions in the body. Lisa shares that asking whether a feeling or impression is ours can help us tell the difference between our own energy and something coming from outside us. Next, they talk about clairaudience, or clear hearing. Laurea shares examples such as hearing voices, music, knocking, footsteps, or phrases that seem to come in suddenly. They also mention that this can include hearing information internally, as thoughts or words that arrive very quickly, especially when receiving guidance or channeling. They finish with clairgustance, clairalience, and clairtangency. Clairgustance is clear tasting, clairalience is clear smelling, and clairtangency is receiving information through touch or contact with objects. Lisa and Laurea each give examples of smelling familiar scents, sensing energy in objects, and reacting to a presence attached to furniture or other items. Why It's So Hard to Break Unhealthy Patterns Even When You Recognize Them

In this episode Lisa and Laurea discuss the subconscious mind and how it differs from the unconscious mind comparing the mind to an iceberg and describe the subconscious as just below awareness and the unconscious as more deeply hidden. They talk about what each part holds and how it functions. Laurea explains the subconscious contains memories, habits, and learned skills, while the unconscious holds repressed desires, instincts, and forgotten traumas. She further explains how these layers can guide daily decisions, automatic behaviors, and hidden reactions. Then they focus on the subconscious as a gatekeeper in healing work and explain that it can protect us from things we are not ready to access, but that this protection does not always serve us. They discuss triggers, fears, phobias, and relationship reactivity as examples of patterns that may be difficult to trace. Lisa and Laurea also talk about readiness and consent in healing practices. They explain that no one can be forced into this work and that some modalities require willingness and openness to be effective. Both give examples from belief work and Reiki, including moments when connection is blocked or when a client is skeptical. Finally, they discuss safety, pacing, and the role of the practitioner, explaining that change happens at the speed of safety and that it helps to create a calm, nonjudgmental space. Lisa also connects this to yoga, describing it as a moving meditation that can open energy channels and sometimes bring up emotion or insight.
