    Everything Went Wrong Before He Even Left Base Camp | Everest 2026

    Before Tim even reached Everest base camp, four separate things went wrong. This is Part One - and it gets worse. Tim Allardyce is a physio from the UK who set out on a Mount Everest expedition in 2026 with a plan. The plan didn't survive contact with reality. In this episode: a back injury days before departure. Lost luggage stranding him in Kathmandu. His climbing Sherpa medically evacuated off the mountain. And an ice tower in the Khumbu Icefall that closed the entire route for three weeks. We also get into what it's actually like to cross the Khumbu Icefall - five aluminium ladders over a crevasse you can't see the bottom of. The only route in or out of Everest base camp in 2026.     The Unhinged Reality of my First Everest Season

    492 permits. Over 1,000 people. One route. My first Everest 2026 season was, honestly, a lot. This is the full story - the chaos, the records, and the moments that had me staring at my screen with my jaw on the floor. A 55-meter ice serac in the Khumbu Icefall delayed the entire season by three weeks. Queues backed up to breaking point. And one Sherpa guide (Hillary Dawa Sherpa) was left for dead at Camp 4... and somehow found alive days later. Kami Rita Sherpa hit his 32nd summit. A double amputee climbed on his arms. Shaunna Burke, the first person with Stage 4 cancer reached the top. And somehow, 274 people summited in a single day - smashing every record in history. But five people didn't make it home. One went missing and was later found alive. And the question nobody wants to answer is: was any of this avoidable? This is Everest 2026 - record crowds, record summits, and a mountain that still does whatever it wants. Should they cap the permits? Is Mount Everest Climbing becoming too dangerous?     Exactly 30 years ago, the 1996 Everest Disaster changed high-altitude climbing forever. From Rob Hall's heartbreaking last call to his wife, to the unhinged chaos of the storm - this is what really happened. May 10, 1996. Eight people never made it home in a single 24-hour period on the world's highest mountain. What started as a commercial summit attempt with Adventure Consultants ended in one of the most devastating days in mountaineering history. And 30 years later, we're still asking how it happened. Rob Hall - one of the most respected guides on the mountain - made his final radio call to his pregnant wife from 29,000 feet. Alone. In a storm. With no oxygen left. This is that story.
