Episode 2 - Star Wars: Ep I - The Phantom Menace

Episode 2 - The Phantom Menace In this episode of Open Lore, we’re taking a deeper look at Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. This was the beginning of the prequel trilogy, the start of Anakin Skywalker’s story, and for a lot of us, our first real introduction to Star Wars. We talk through the context of the movie, how it fits into the larger saga, and what was going on behind the scenes when it released after a 15-year gap. From the chaos of the podrace to the impact of Duel of the Fates, this episode breaks down some of the most memorable moments and why they still hold up today. We also get into how the movie was received at the time, the criticisms around characters like Jar Jar and young Anakin, and how opinions have shifted over the years.
