    020 - No, it's just that we don't believe you.

    This week on the STAR(X) Podcast, Mike and Jenae are taking on Stargate SG-1 Season 1, Episode 20 — “Politics.” Daniel Jackson has just returned from an alternate reality with a warning about an impending Goa’uld invasion, but apparently saving Earth from aliens has to take a backseat to something even more terrifying… government funding. Senator Robert Kinsey arrives at the SGC to decide whether the Stargate program is worth its massive price tag. SG-1 has to defend years of missions, questionable decisions, and near-apocalyptic disasters while Kinsey remains determined to shut the whole thing down. Because apparently, “we have fought aliens and saved the planet several times” isn't a compelling enough budget justification. We talk about the episode's clip-show format, revisit some of SG-1's biggest adventures from the season, and discuss whether the Stargate program actually makes a convincing case for itself. We also get into Kinsey, Daniel's warnings, O'Neill's approach to politics, and the increasingly uncomfortable realization that Earth's best defense against the Goa'uld may be getting shut down by a guy with a budget spreadsheet. And of course, we have plenty to say about the episode along the way.     What happens when Daniel Jackson steps through the Stargate… and discovers a version of Earth where the Goa’uld have already won? In this episode of the Star(X) Podcast, Mike and Jenae dive into There But for the Grace of God, as Daniel finds himself trapped in an alternate reality where the Stargate Program is public knowledge, the Goa’uld are invading Earth, and things have gone VERY differently. While everyone back home is dealing with their own problems, Daniel has to convince an alternate version of the SGC that he’s not just some very confused guy who wandered in from another dimension. We talk about the alternate versions of our favorite characters, the surprisingly different Stargate Program, and the terrifying realization that Earth may be much closer to disaster than anyone realizes. Plus, we discuss Daniel’s increasingly desperate attempts to get home and what the episode reveals about the choices that shaped our own reality. As always, Mike and Jenae bring plenty of commentary, jokes, questionable Stargate logic, and probably more questions than answers.     018 - Comtraya!

    What happens when SG-1 walks through the Stargate and discovers they aren't quite themselves anymore? 🤖 In this episode of the Star(X) Podcast, Mike and Jenae take on Stargate SG-1’s “Tin Man”—an episode where SG-1 encounters a mysterious alien facility and wakes up to discover that their consciousnesses have been transferred into robotic duplicates of themselves. While their new mechanical bodies are stronger, faster, and practically indestructible but have one major weakness.  They run on batteries and, unfortunately, the charger is not portable. As SG-1 tries to understand what happened, they uncover the story of Harlan and the strange civilization that created their robotic counterparts. Meanwhile, the team has to deal with the increasingly awkward realization that there are now two versions of SG-1 running around—and one of them doesn't need to eat, sleep, or worry about getting shot. Mike and Jenae discuss the episode's big questions about identity, consciousness, and what actually makes someone human, along with the team's attempts to get their original bodies back.     What happens when a Stargate malfunction leaves two members of SG-1 stranded in an icy wasteland with no way home? 🥶 In this episode of the Star(X) Podcast, Mike and Jenae take on Stargate SG-1’s “Solitudes”—an episode that puts Jack O’Neill and Samantha Carter in a fight for survival while Daniel Jackson, Teal’c, and General Hammond desperately try to figure out where they disappeared to. With Jack seriously injured, their supplies running out, and the temperature dropping, Sam has to find a way to repair the DHD and get them home. Meanwhile, back at the SGC, Daniel starts putting together the pieces of the Stargate malfunction and discovers that Jack and Sam may be much closer to home than anyone realized.
