The Word on Wednesday: Midweek Bible Study and Weekly Devotional, Where the Holy Spirit Waters What Sunday Planted

The Sonship Place

The Word on Wednesday is the weekly Christian teaching and midweek Bible study from The Sonship Place (T.S.P) Church. Where the seed planted on Sunday gets watered, and the roots keep growing between Rooting Sundays. Everything taught here points back to one reality: the Love of the Father, the Finished Work of the Son, Christ Jesus, and the leadership and fellowship of the Holy Spirit. For every believer that means you are loved before you ever perform, you are complete because the work is finished, and you never walk alone: the Holy Spirit leads you, teaches you, and keeps fellowship with you daily. Everything here begins and ends in Christ Alone. The Word on Wednesday is not a repeat of Sunday. It is a distinct teaching moment that goes deeper into themes introduced on Rooting Sundays or addresses the practical life of sonship. Where Rooting is a deep dive exposition of 60 to 90 minutes, The Word on Wednesday is shorter and more focused. 87 episodes and counting, spanning spiritual warfare, the names of God, authority in Christ, the keys to the kingdom, reconciliation, idolatry, giving, glory, and the fasted life. What Does It Mean To Be A Christian? · TWOW 86

The church needs Christ, and many believers have lost sight of what it truly means to be Christian. This teaching examines 20 scriptures to establish the foundational doctrine of Christianity and identify where human authority has been inserted in place of Christ's finished work. We investigate the BITE model of cult behavior: behavioral control, information control, thought control, and emotional control to help believers recognize manipulation disguised as spiritual authority. This is for you if you've experienced controlling church leadership, been told your loyalty belongs to a pastor rather than Christ, or need clarity on what authentic Christian doctrine looks like versus cult-like manipulation. What Does It Mean to Stand for Christ in Every Area of Life · TWOW 85

The world is looking for Christ, but what they see in believers often contradicts the gospel we claim. This is a direct challenge to the body of Christ about authentic representation of Jesus in every aspect of life. Pastor OC addresses the gap between claiming Christianity and actually living as Christ, examining how believers compromise their witness through people-pleasing, manipulation, and selective obedience. He confronts the reality that Christians are often blamed for societal problems because they fail to demonstrate the fruits of grace. This is for you if you've been living a compartmentalized faith, if you struggle with integrity when no one is watching, or if you need to examine whether your life preaches Christ or contradicts Him. How to Find Hope When Life Gets Hard · TWOW 84

Life is life, and God never promised a smooth journey, only a safe arrival. When traumatic events make you feel like you're losing yourself, when holding onto hope seems costly, the Good Shepherd refreshes and restores your life. This teaching walks through Psalm 23, Psalm 27, and 2 Thessalonians 3 to show how Christ himself becomes our amen to every promise of God. The message addresses seasons of mourning, depression, and despair with the declaration that every promise of God is yes in Christ and amen to us. This is for you if you need to catch your breath in overwhelming circumstances, if you're struggling to believe you'll see God's goodness in the land of the living, or if you need restoration when life feels out of sync. What Does God's Riches in Glory Mean · TWOW 83

God's riches in glory are not money, prosperity, or material wealth. The riches of God's glory is God himself. When we receive Christ, we receive all of God's riches in glory because we receive God himself. This teaching dismantles prosperity gospel thinking that treats God as a cosmic vending machine who owes us material blessings. Instead, it reveals that our inheritance as sons is the fullness of God dwelling in us through Christ and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit's role is to transform us from glory to glory, conforming us to the image of Christ so that our lives display God's glory to the world. This is for you if you've been seeking God's provision in material things rather than finding your complete satisfaction in God himself, or if you need clarity on what it truly means to be rich in Christ. What Does It Mean to Work Out Your Salvation · TWOW 82

The Laodicean church thought they had everything they needed, but their self-sufficiency made them spiritually useless to God. When believers rely on their own resources instead of yielding to the Holy Spirit, they become lukewarm. The Holy Spirit's power does not degrade in transit through a yielded vessel, but self-sufficiency and people-pleasing block the flow. Working out your salvation means cultivating spiritual maturity by pursuing the promises found in the Holy Spirit, not adding effort to be saved. This is for you if you've been measuring your spiritual life by your own hand or letting the judgment of people guide your walk instead of yielding to the Holy Spirit as your source. How Christians Lose God's Power: When Impurities Corrupt... · TWOW 81

The water that arrived lukewarm in Laodicea was not lukewarm at the source. Something happened in transit, and that something is the vessel. This episode is part three of a series on spiritual uselessness, shifting the frame from accountability to responsibility. Where earlier sessions examined what you receive and where your source comes from, the focus here is the aqueduct itself. The earthen vessel. The stone and clay pipe through which the supply travels before it reaches anyone else. Christ's rebuke of Laodicea in Revelation 3 was never about spiritual passion or apathy. It was about function. Cold water refreshed. Hot water healed. Lukewarm water did neither. This episode asks why the water became what it became, tracing the degradation back through the Lycus Valley geography, the aqueducts connecting Colossae and Hierapolis to Laodicea, and what the names of those cities carry as theological weight. Laodicea means "people ruled." A city of financial prosperity and cultural prestige, receiving its water supply through pipes it did not own, from sources it did not generate. The vessel that carried the water changed it. People-pleasing, as a corrupting source orientation, is named as one of the forces that degrades what flows through you to others. SCRIPTURE: Revelation 3:14-22 SERIES: Spiritually Useless. A multi-part Wednesday teaching examining what makes a son genuinely useful to God, from the source that fills you to the vessel that carries and gives. What Does It Mean to Be Lukewarm Christian: Living... · TWOW 80

Lukewarm is not a temperature. It is a theological condition describing a son who has disconnected from every source and, as a result, has nothing to offer anyone. This teaching returns to the three cities of Revelation 3, building on last week's groundwork by moving into what lukewarmness actually names. Hierapolis, whose boiling therapeutic waters picture a son tethered to the Spirit, bringing heat that heals and corrects. Colossae, whose cold mountain spring water pictures a life led by the living word, refreshed and bearing fruit in every season. Then Laodicea, whose name means justice of the people, the people's rights, a city with no water source of its own. That geographic fact becomes the theological argument: Laodicea is the portrait of an identity rooted in self-assessment, drawing from no secret source, and offering nothing to anyone who is thirsty. The Greek word translated lukewarm, hilarius, appears only once in the entire New Testament, making it a hapax legomenon. So does emeo, the word Christ uses when he says he will spit them out. Two words found nowhere else in scripture, both appearing in Christ's single description of this one church. The teaching works through why that concentration of unique language matters for understanding what is actually being diagnosed.
