    90. Stepfather

As we roll into Black Week for Family Horror Month, we finally make it to the movie that inspired the whole damn theme: Stepfather! This Tubi Original starring thee Taye Diggs alongside R&B diva Tamar Braxton came ready to serve camp, chaos, and enough Lifetime Movie energy to power an entire Sunday afternoon marathon. More reimagining than straight-up remake, Stepfather feels like the director pulled Taye aside before filming and said, “Bro…whatever you’re thinking? Do MORE.” And thankfully, he listened. Diggs commits to every glare, outburst, smile and absolutely unhinged moment while the movie proceeds to throw every possible crazy-family trope directly in his face. Meanwhile Tamar gets increasingly better at emoting as the madness escalates, and somehow the whole thing just WORKS. This Week We Get: Completely unrealistic expectations of what constitutes a “perfect” familyStep-kids firmly divided into Team New Dad and Absolutely The F**k NotBaller-ass houses that had me repeatedly asking, “What do these people do for a living?!”Possibly the most inept police force we’ve ever encountered — I’m pretty sure I could’ve solved these crimesAnd a whole lot of yelling, outbursts and ass-kicking…both imaginary and very, very realSo sit back, relax and prepare for a low-stakes watch with even lower expectations that somehow turned into a genuinely entertaining good time. We got LOL moments. WTF moments. Taye Diggs acting ALL the way up. And a family that probably should’ve spent a little more time on background checks before bringing Bad Dad into the house. Sounds like Black Week to me. Get to pressing play! #GhostNinjaRaccoon #HorrorPodcast #HorrorMovies #MoviePodcast #HorrorComedy #HorrorMoviePodcast #BlackHorror #BlackHorrorMovies #BlackHorrorPodcast #BlackWeek #FamilyHorror #FamilyHorrorMonth #Stepfather #TheStepfather #TayeDiggs #TamarBraxton #TubiOriginal #TubiHorror #HorrorFans #HorrorCommunity #HorrorMovieReview #MovieRecap #HorrorRecap #CampyHorror #PsychologicalHorror #ThrillerMovies #BlackCinema

    89. Willy's Wonderland

Family Horror Month forges ahead with a quick family-fun stop for our This Century Pick! We’re celebrating a birthday, opening presents, having some cake, and hopefully surviving the night at Willy’s Wonderland. 🎂🤖🔪 This week, we join Nicolas Cage for what should be a simple overnight cleaning gig after an extremely convenient unforeseen car situation leaves him working off his repair bill at a shuttered family fun center. Easy enough. Except the place is crawling with evil animatronics, the entire town is shady as hell, and Nicolas Cage has apparently decided that WORDS ARE FOR THE WEAK. That’s right. Our man checks in at approximately ZERO lines of dialogue. But don’t worry our Feisty Teens arrive to provide plenty of talking, screaming, bad decisions, and that special brand of teenage confidence that says, “Sure, several people have died here…but WE have a plan.” In this one we get: 🤐 Nicolas Cage delivering literally the fewest lines possible: NONE. 🗑️ Town leaders up to some of the shadiest shit this side of a manure dump. 🔥 The spunkiest teen alive attempting to save lives by somehow losing damn near every life she brought with her. 🤖 Animatronics finally delivering the murderous Chuck E. Cheese energy I expected from Five Nights at Freddy’s. 🧹 And one silent-ass janitor who takes his breaks ON TIME, cleans up every mess he makes, and refuses to let supernatural foolishness interfere with his work ethic. So sit back, press play, and find out what happens when you make a deal with a speechless Nicolas Cage and then fail to explain that the job comes with homicidal animatronics. Because when Willy’s Wonderland gets dirty… Nicolas Cage cleans house. And then literally cleans the house. Need more CAGE RAGE?!?! Check out Episode #18, Longlegs Need more Stupid Teens?! 88. It's Alive

For August, we’re diving headfirst into a brand new theme, and apparently choosing emotional violence because welcome to Family Horror Month!  That’s right: toxic relationships, questionable parenting, inherited trauma and enough deeply uncomfortable family business to completely destroy Thanksgiving dinner. For Last Century Week, we’re traveling back to 1974 for It’s Alive, a film that asks: What happens when experimental drugs are handed out to pregnant women all willy-nilly and the result is a Monster Baby who just wants some milk, a nap and to go home? Unfortunately, instead of receiving a bottle and a little compassion, this poor newborn is met with screaming, disgust, armed police and an entire city acting like they’ve never seen a baby with claws before. We Get… A mother who loves her baby no matter what, as she should.A father who wants to love his baby no matter what…but Monster Baby has him completely f****d up.A society with absolutely zero sympathy for a helpless newborn who is, once again, just trying to find something to eat.Shady scientists attempting to bury their pharmaceutical mistakes. And the largest police response ever assembled to hunt down somebody who was literally born yesterday. So press play as we follow two distraught parents, one terrified city, several deeply s****y scientists and an entire police force determined to make sure Monster Baby never reaches his first birthday. #GhostNinjaRaccoon #GNRPodcast #FamilyHorrorMonth #LastCenturyWeek #ItsAlive #ItsAlive1974 #LarryCohen #Horror #HorrorMovies #HorrorFilm #HorrorPodcast #HorrorPodcasts #MoviePodcast #FilmPodcast #ComedyPodcast #Podcast #Podcasts #Podcasting #NewPodcastEpisode #NewEpisode #NowPlaying #HorrorFans #HorrorCommunity #HorrorLovers #ScaryMovies #ClassicHorror #CultHorror #CultClassic #70sHorror #RetroHorror #MonsterMovie #CreatureFeature #BodyHorror #FamilyHorror #MovieReview #MovieRecap #FilmReview #HorrorReview #SpotifyPodcasts #ApplePodcasts Follow me below for more reviews! 👇🏾 LETTERBXD: @GhstNinjaRacoon INSTAGRAM & FACEBOOK @ghostninjaraccoon Got a movie suggestion:  ghostninjaraccoon@gmail.com New Episodes drop Mondays!   MUSIC BY:  DJ B.Foreman PRODUCED BY:  K. 87. Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers

Since we started Summer Horror Month at camp, naturally we’re going to finish it at camp. And while you may be wondering if Jason Voorhees is about to pop out from behind a tree—don’t worry. Today’s killer is racking up Voorhees-level numbers using camp supplies, killer instincts and unlimited motivation provided by badly behaved teenagers. This week, we’re talking Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers, where we link back up with Sweet Baby Angela from the original film—covered way back in Episode 36. Except this time, she’s no longer a baby, she’s definitely not sweet…but she is still very much Angela. Powered by terrible recordkeeping and nary a background check, Angela has somehow landed a job counseling kids in the ways of good, clean, wholesome fun. Unfortunately, several campers don’t find Angela’s version of fun all that fun—and they’re about to learn that getting “sent home” means something very different at Camp Rolling Hills. Tune in as we find out: 🏕️ How many campers can Sweet Baby Angela send home before somebody calls a parent? 🪚 Are these woods soundproof, or do murder screams just sound like wholesome camp fun? 🚽 Could anyone survive the grossest outhouse death we’ve seen at camp this summer? 👀 How much gratuitous nudity is too much for a camp supposedly full of teenagers? Worry not—the performers were adults. I checked. The effects are great, the campers are appropriately annoying and Sweet Baby Angela’s patience is thinner than pantyhose. So press play and find out whether anyone in these woods can hear anything over the sounds of joy, lust and murder. #GhostNinjaRaccoon #GNRPodcast #SleepawayCamp2 #SleepawayCampII #UnhappyCampers #SleepawayCamp #SummerHorrorMonth #SummerHorror #SequelWeek #CampHorror #SlasherMovie #80sHorror #HorrorComedy #HorrorPodcast #MovieRecap #HorrorMovies #HorrorCommunity

    87. Black as Night

Black as Night (2021) New Orleans has a vampire problem—and apparently, these bloodsucking bastards have been recruiting from the city’s most vulnerable communities. After a nighttime attack and a devastating loss, a shy teenager decides she has had enough. Armed with her ride-or-die bestie, a pro-Black crush, information from Lady Google, Mom’s silver jewelry and enough garlic Parmesan dust to shut down an Olive Garden, she sets out to expose the vampire army hiding inside the projects. But these vampires are not just hungry. Their leader has centuries of trauma, a whole lot of rage and a plan that turns “racism, racism, racism” into one complicated villain origin story. This week, we’re talking: Colorism, confidence and finally recognizing your own beautyWhy walking home alone after the party is always a bad ideaHomeless vampires, suspicious pastors and a red EscaladeThe importance of keeping your silver jewelry—and your emotional support gay bestie—closeA vampire-killing strategy heavily dependent on garlic Parmesan cheeseAnd why dying may not stop a true bestie from pulling back upGrab your stakes, protect your neck and press play as we recap 2021’s Black as Night. 85. Piranha 3D

🦈 Piranha 3D (2010) | Summer Horror Month As we party our way into our #ThisCenturyWeek pick for Summer Horror Month, we skipped the peaceful family vacation and headed straight into the most chaotic Spring Break imaginable. After an underwater earthquake cracks open a prehistoric feeding ground, thousands of flesh-hungry piranha crash the biggest party of the year… and they are hungry. This week we recap Piranha 3D (2010) and somehow get: More boobs than an early-2000s Girls Gone Wild commercial.A sheriff trying desperately to save a town determined to ignore every warning.Jake From State Farm making one terrible decision after another.Spring breakers proving alcohol and survival instincts do not mix.Practical gore effects that still absolutely slap.A lake that becomes one giant all-you-can-eat buffet. One of the most ridiculous (and unforgettable) deaths involving a certain body part in horror history. It’s bloody. It’s hilarious. It’s completely over-the-top. And honestly… it’s way more fun than it has any right to be. So grab your life jacket, stay the hell out of the water, and press play wherever you get your podcasts. ⭐ GNR Rating: 4.5/5 Next week: It’s #BlackWeek, and we’ve got another killer story coming your way. Need more horror in the sun, check out episode #7: "Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre" where somehow sharks attack on land OR Episode 70: "Tremors" where Graboids annoy the ass out of Kevin Bacon!  Follow me below for more reviews! 👇🏾 LETTERBXD: @GhstNinjaRacoon INSTAGRAM & FACEBOOK @ghostninjaraccoon Got a movie suggestion:  ghostninjaraccoon@gmail.com New Episodes drop Mondays!   MUSIC BY:  DJ B.Foreman PRODUCED BY:  K.
