Snack Break: Hobama, Zendaya Hat Theory and Other Silly Internet Rumours

Welcome to Feed The Fangirl! We’re Ella and Victoria - longtime friends, pop culture obsessives and eternal fangirls. Whether it’s TV, movies, music, books or celebrity - we talk about all the things on our pop culture menu. Food for thought - it feeds the inner fangirl! We’re back with another Snack Break, a Feed the Fangirl bonus episode! This is a bite sized episode that doesn’t quite fit on the main menu.  In today’s bonus episode we cover one of the strangest (and funniest) celebrity rumours that have come across our desk in our time as fangirls: Hobama. Aka, the crackship between Harry Styles and former US president Barack Obama. Plus we unpack another fabricated internet ship between Tom Holland and Nicki Minaj. We also cover the ‘Zendaya Hat Theory’ and how Zendaya and Tom Holland are always at the scene of the crime when it comes to wild internet bits.  This is our final episode of Season 2! Thanks so much for listening. We will back in September! Today we referenced the following videos: Harry Styles addresses Barack Obama dating rumours at the BBC Music Awards 2014 from SugarScape, Harry Styles reveals whether rumours about him are true from The Graham Norton Show, Team USA v. Team UK - Dodgeball w/ Michelle Obama, Harry Styles & More from The Late Late Show with James Corden and Tom Holland on Zendaya, Robert Pattinson & His Career | Explain This from Esquire. These articles also helped inform our research: Obama, his gay accuser and the lawyer in a kilt from The Sydney Morning Herald and Tom Holland fans explain ‘joke’ as Spider-Man actor trends following Nicki Minaj pregnancy announcement from The Independent and Zendaya Hat Theory Explained: TikTok’s Met Gala 2025 Obsession from Teen Vogue. The State of Cinema: Hollywood’s Risk Aversion, Reboot Fatigue and Craving Original Content

Correction: At 38:25 Victoria mistakenly said the year 2025 when referencing Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The correct year the film came out was 2015. Welcome to Feed The Fangirl!
