013 - He Remembers We Are But Dust (Genesis Series)

What does it actually mean to be made in the image and likeness of God? In this episode of Between Sundays, we continue our journey through Genesis by looking at Genesis 1:26–28 and the creation of humanity. We’ll explore what it means to bear God’s image, why He gave mankind dominion over creation, and how the command to “be fruitful and multiply” becomes one of the major redemptive themes running through the entire Bible. We’ll also look at the deeply personal picture of God as the Divine Potter—the God who stoops into the dust, forms humanity with His own hands, and breathes His own life into us. “He knows our frame; He remembers that we are but dust.” Finally, we’ll consider the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, why love requires boundaries, and how Jesus comes as the Last Adam to recover what the first Adam lost. And perhaps most astonishing of all: Jesus did not abandon His humanity when He ascended. A Man is now seated at the right hand of the Father. Humanity has been brought into the fellowship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ------ Want more content like this? 012 - All Beginnings Begin With God (Genesis Series)

The Bible opens with four words that establish everything that follows: “In the beginning God.” In this first episode of a NEW SERIES through the book of Genesis, we look at Genesis 1:1–25 and what creation reveals about the Creator. Genesis isn’t simply explaining where everything came from—it shows us a God who brings order out of chaos, speaks light into darkness, and faithfully moves what He begins toward His intended purpose. In this episode: • Why all beginnings must begin with God • How God brings order through His Word • Why the light of Genesis 1 points directly to Jesus • What creation teaches us about seasons that still feel unfinished • Why your identity and purpose begin in the heart of God Whatever feels empty, unformed, or dark in your life, Genesis reminds us that God does not abandon what He begins. ------ Want more content like this? To a Land I Will Show You

God called Abraham to leave everything he had ever known and follow Him into a land he had never seen. He was given no map, no destination, and no explanation—only a command to go and a promise that God would be with him. That is still the call of the gospel. In this episode of Between Sundays: The Podcast, we explore Genesis 12:1 and what Abraham’s journey teaches us about surrender, faith, and the intentional pursuit of God. Following Jesus requires us to come out of the life that once defined us, release the things that cannot come with us, and trust God with the destination. You cannot follow Jesus while remaining settled in the life He called you to leave. We’ll talk about:• Why Abraham had to leave his father’s house• How the things we carry from our old life can delay us• Why surrender must become a daily decision• The danger of allowing comfort and distraction to choke out fruitfulness• The difference between spiritual desire and actually seeking God• Why God delights in using weak, empty, and yielded vessels• The promise that God will be with us wherever He leads usGod is not looking for the most talented, impressive, powerful, or qualified. He is looking for those who are yielded and empty enough to be filled.------Want more content like this? 010 - God is Longing to Forgive

Is God reluctant to forgive—or have we misunderstood Him? In this episode of Between Sundays, Neil explores several encounters in the life of Jesus that reveal a God who is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, and ready to forgive. Through the paralytic lowered through the roof, the woman who anointed Jesus’ feet, the woman caught in adultery, and the prodigal son, we see Jesus repeatedly remove the religious barriers that keep people from receiving grace. Forgiveness is not something we earn by finding the perfect words, producing enough sorrow, or proving that we have changed. Repentance begins when we come alive to the truth that God is far better than we believed—and turn toward Him in faith. The Father is not standing at the door with His arms crossed, waiting for you to explain yourself. He is already running down the road to meet you. -----Want more content like this? 009 - God Demonstrates Himself Through His People

God’s plan for revealing Himself to the world has always involved His people.Throughout Scripture, when God wants to confront injustice, bring deliverance, or make His nature known, He calls men and women who will rightly represent Him. We are not merely saved from something—we are restored as image-bearers who demonstrate what life in the kingdom of God looks like.In this episode of Between Sundays, Neil explores what it means to become a person through whom God can reveal Himself. We look at Moses, Paul, and the early disciples to see how God forms people who reflect His character, carry His presence, and participate in His work.Hebrews 11:6 tells us that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. The invitation is not to settle for a distant or passive faith, but to press on, lay hold of God, behold Jesus, and allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into His image. The hurting people around us are waiting to see what God is like. The question is whether our lives are showing them an accurate picture. In this episode:• Why God chooses to work through people• What it means to be an image-bearer• How seeking God transforms us• Why faith requires intentional pursuit• How to become a yielded vessel God can use“Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” — Hebrews 11:6 ------Want more content like this? 008 - The Wilderness of Repentance and the Life of the Spirit

Repentance is essential—but it was never meant to become the entire Christian life.In this episode of Between Sundays: The Podcast, Neil Broere teaches from Matthew 3:1–17 and explores the difference between the wilderness of repentance and the life of the Spirit. Many believers have genuinely turned to Jesus, but remain stuck in cycles of guilt, introspection, confession, and self-correction. They have reached the trailhead of faith, but have never stepped fully into the journey of life in Christ. In this episode, you’ll discover:-Why repentance is more than changing your behavior-The danger of building your relationship with God around your mistakes-Why repentance can bring you to the starting line but cannot transform you-The difference between being sin-conscious and God-conscious-How the Holy Spirit leads us beyond forgiveness into freedom-What it means to walk with God instead of continually trying to get back to HimThe invitation of the gospel is not simply to leave your old life behind. It is to follow Jesus, receive His Spirit, and step into the life that has been made possible through union with Him.Repentance turns you, but only the Spirit transforms you.------Want more content like this? 007 - Righteous, Holy, & Whole

What if the way you see yourself is contradicting what Jesus says about you? In this episode of Between Sundays, Neil confronts the spirit of religion and the lie that the finished work of Christ was not enough to make us righteous and holy. Through mulitple passages of Scripture, we unpack what it means for believers to be made righteous, holy, and whole in Christ. This conversation challenges old covenant thinking, exposes the limits of self-effort, and invites you to hear God’s declaration over your life: in Christ, you are not unclean, barely tolerated, or spiritually second-class. You are the righteousness of God, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, and a new creation. Wholeness does not begin when you finally get yourself together. It begins when you hear the name God calls you. ------- Want more content like this?
