  1. Calm to Sleep: A Gentle Insomnia Support Meditation

Calm to Sleep: A Gentle Insomnia Support Meditation

This “Calm to Sleep” meditation is one I created for the kinds of nights I see so often in my practice—and in my own life—when your body is tired but your mind and nervous system won’t quite let you rest. Many of the sensitive, empathic people who come into my office arrive because of insomnia or long, restless seasons of not sleeping well. Their systems have been on alert for a long time. This meditation is meant to give your body a bridge from that alertness into something softer. In about 20 minutes, I’ll guide you through a gentle breath downshift, a slow full-body scan, and imagery of being held in a cocoon of light. I speak to both the biology of your nervous system, especially the part of you that’s trying to protect you by staying “on,” and the more mystical ways you might experience safety and support, like energy, guides, or the night sky itself. There’s no pressure to “hurry up and fall asleep.” You’re simply giving your system enough safety signals that sleep can find you when it’s ready, with extra music at the end to keep holding you as you drift. How to Use This Meditation This is especially for you if you’re lying awake, waking in the middle of the night, or moving through a season where sleep feels far away, especially as a highly sensitive person or empath. You might listen at bedtime, or when you wake in the night and want something gentle to help you downshift without stimulating you more. This meditation is a supportive tool, not medical advice, and it doesn’t replace in-person care—but it can be one small, kind ritual you offer your nervous system on the way to sleep. Rooted in Motion: A Walking Meditation

This is a walking meditation for the sensitives, the seekers, and the ones who sometimes need movement to feel still. If you’ve ever noticed that a walk helps you think more clearly, feel less anxious, or come back to yourself — that’s not a coincidence. Walking is bilateral movement, which means your left and right brain are quietly integrating with every step. Your nervous system is regulating. Your body is doing what it was made to do. This meditation invites you to feel that happening in real time. In this episode, we’ll move through: * A seasonal arrival cue to help you land in the present moment and the world around you * Somatic awareness of your feet, your breath, and your body in motion * A nervous system settling practice using simple, body-based cues * An earth-rooting visualization to help you release and receive with each step * A sensory opening for your eyes, ears, and skin * A reflection on bilateral movement and innate intelligence * A gentle close that honors the season you’re walking through This meditation is evergreen — you can listen in any season, on any surface, at any pace. [How to Use This Meditation] Press play before you head out, or once you’ve already started walking. There’s no wrong way to receive it. If your mind wanders, that’s okay — just feel your feet and come back. Learning to Breathe with Grief: A Meditation for the Tender Heart

This one is for the tender-hearted. If you’re moving through grief, loss, or one of those waves that arrives quietly and asks to be felt, I recorded a short guided meditation to offer some softness. It’s a space to pause, breathe, and let your body be met without pressure or timeline. If it feels supportive, you can read my recent grief post here: A gentle note before you press play. This meditation moves through the landscape of grief and loss. If you are in a very raw, acute, or tender place right now, please be kind to yourself first — it is always okay to wait until you feel a little more resourced. Before listening, you might want to: * Set aside some quiet, uninterrupted time afterward * Have a glass of water nearby * Wrap yourself in a blanket or something comforting * Let someone know you’re doing something tender today, if that feels supportive At any point during the meditation, you are free to pause, open your eyes, or stop entirely. Tending to your nervous system is always the wisest choice. If you are currently in a mental health crisis or feel unsafe, please reach out to a trusted person, therapist, or crisis line before continuing. This is a space of no pressure and no timeline. Grief moves at its own pace — and so can you. When you’re ready, I’ll meet you inside. Between Realms is a reader-supported publication for sensitives, empaths, and seekers. Start Here: Welcome to Your Nervous System Sanctuary

This introductory episode is a soft landing place for sensitives, empaths, and energetically aware humans who are looking for grounded, nervous system–centered support that still honors the mystical. In this episode, Dr. Charlotte Meier, a chiropractor, acupuncturist, and energy worker based in St. Louis, Missouri, shares who this space is for, a bit of her own story as a sensitive person, and what you can expect from this podcast: guided meditations, gentle practices for rest and regulation, personal reflections from the treatment room, and occasional conversations with practitioners tending to both the body and the unseen. You’ll also hear how to use these episodes in a way that centers your consent and pacing, so you can choose the practices that meet you where you are—whether you need help softening into sleep, pausing in the middle of the day, cultivating patience in a long season, or inviting a more grounded, sustainable sense of energy. This episode is an invitation to exhale, to remember that your sensitivity is an intelligence, and to find a home here for your nervous system. If you’d like to stay connected, you can find more writing and resources at drcharlottestl.substack.com. If this episode feels supportive, feel free to restack or share with another sensitive nervous system who might need it.
