Episode 10 - Why You Keep Starting Over

Have you ever told yourself... "I'll start Monday." "I'll start next month." "I'll get back on track after vacation." "I'll start over next year." If so, this episode is for you. The truth is, most of us don't struggle because we can't start—we struggle because we keep starting over. We convince ourselves that one bad meal, one missed workout, one skipped habit, or one off week means we've failed, when really it just means we're human. In this episode, we're talking about the mindset that's quietly keeping so many of us stuck: all-or-nothing thinking. We'll dive into: Why we're addicted to fresh starts. How perfectionism disguises itself as productivity. The cycle of breaking promises to ourselves and how it slowly erodes self-trust. Why confidence isn't something you magically find—it's something you build. Why the goal isn't perfection... it's continuation. How successful people don't necessarily fail less—they simply recover faster. One of the biggest takeaways from this episode is that the building phase is the most important phase. The beginning is exciting, and the finish line is exciting, but the quiet, repetitive middle is where habits are formed, confidence is built, and your future starts to take shape. Remember:It doesn't have to be perfect—it just needs to get done. We also talk about two mindset shifts that can completely change how you view setbacks: F.A.I.L. = First Attempt In Learning N.O. = Next Opportunity Every mistake teaches you something, and every new moment gives you another chance to keep going. For the next week, start paying attention to the promises you make to yourself. Ask yourself: What promises did I make today? Which ones did I keep? Which ones did I break? How did keeping them make me feel? How did breaking them make me feel? Then choose one very small promise to keep every single day. Make it so achievable that you can complete it even on your hardest days. Examples: Drink one glass of water. Read one page. Stretch for two minutes. Walk for five minutes. Write one sentence in a journal. If you miss a day, that's okay. You're not starting over—you are continuing. Your only goal is simple: Don't miss two days in a row. "I wasn't failing because I couldn't start. I was failing because I kept restarting." "We're addicted to fresh starts because they feel easier than consistency." "Perfectionism doesn't protect your dreams—it delays them." "Every promise you break with yourself chips away at your self-trust." "Keeping promises to yourself builds self-trust, and self-trust builds self-confidence." "Confidence isn't believing you can do it. Confidence is trusting yourself to follow through." "The building phase is the most important phase." "It doesn't have to be perfect. It just needs to get done." "You don't need to start over. You need to continue." "The difference between where you are and where you want to be isn't perfection—it's recovery time." "Maybe the life you've been wanting isn't waiting for a better version of you. Maybe it's waiting for the version of you that stops starting over." Thank you so much for spending part of your day with me. If this episode resonated with you, I'd love if you shared it with someone who needs the reminder that they don't have to start over—they just have to keep going. Stay soft, stay savage.
