井上陽水英訳詩集 Yosui Inoue: Poems in English Translation

A single book — an English translation of Yosui Inoue's song lyrics. ...Wait, what? Translated into English by Robert Campbell, the collection takes the words of one of Japan's most beloved singer-songwriters and runs them through a completely different language. The moment the translation happens, something shifts — or maybe something else rises to the surface instead. Inoue's lyrics are famous for their ambiguity: no clear subject, no defined situation, and yet utterly captivating. What does that look like when rendered in English? Did Mako and his guest actually figure it out? Honestly, kind of yes, kind of no 😅 But that's the thing about a book that pulls you in — it doesn't need to explain itself.
