Parenting on the Frontlines

Lions Media Production

Parenting on the Frontlines equips moms and dads to lead their families with confidence, courage, and biblical conviction. In a culture that constantly challenges Christian values, parenting can feel like a battle. Each episode tackles real-world parenting issues—technology, discipline, identity, relationships, education, and more—through the lens of Scripture. We don’t just discuss the problems; we offer practical, Christ-centered guidance to help parents disciple their children, strengthen their homes, and stand firm in their faith. If you’re raising kids in today’s world and want solid, biblical direction, this podcast is for you. Episode 1: In the first episode of Parenting on the Frontlines, Pastor David Jennaro and Julie Gallup introduce the purpose of the podcast and begin discussing how parents should approach conversations about dating and relationships with their children. They emphasize that “the talk” should not be a one-time discussion but an ongoing conversation that begins early and develops as children grow. Using the analogy of teaching teens to drive, Pastor David explains that while dating can have serious life consequences, parents often lack clear guidance on how to address it. The hosts encourage parents to move beyond simply trying to prevent mistakes and instead focus on discipling their children according to God’s design for relationships, pointing them toward a biblical understanding of marriage. The episode highlights the importance of grounding parenting decisions in Scripture and starting age-appropriate conversations early in order to help children develop a healthy, God-centered view of relationships. © 2026 Parenting on the Frontlines. Parenting on the Front Lines Christmas Part: 3 Evaluating Classic Christmas Movies Through a Biblical Lens

Should Christians Celebrate Christmas? Part 2: Santa Claus and the Making of Modern Christmas

Where did the modern version of Christmas come from? And how did Santa Claus become such a central figure in the celebration? In Episode 2 of our Christmas series, we explore the development of the modern Christmas celebration, particularly the intentional changes that took place during the 1800s. We look at the efforts of the Knickerbockers to create a more child-friendly Christmas, the introduction and popularization of Christmas trees, and the influence of early Christmas literature, including 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. We also compare the emerging Christmas traditions of the 1800s with earlier Christian teaching and traditions, asking an important question: What happens when the message of Christmas changes? We often hear people say that someone treats God like “some sort of Santa Claus”—a God who exists primarily to give us what we want and reward us for being good. But as we examine the development of Santa Claus and the modern Christmas tradition, we consider whether something deeper happened: Did our culture intentionally reshape biblical ideas about God, morality, reward, and giving into something more appealing to children? This raises important questions for Christian parents. What are our children learning about God through the Christmas traditions we embrace? What happens when Christianity is reduced to simply “be good and you will be rewarded”? And how might that message affect a child's faith as they grow older and encounter skepticism and a postmodern culture? Christmas traditions can be fun and meaningful, but they also teach. In this episode, we examine Santa, the history of modern Christmas, and the importance of making sure our traditions point our children toward biblical truth rather than replacing it. Should Christians Celebrate Christmas? — Part 1: Why Not?

Episode 1: Should Christians Celebrate Christmas? Should Christians celebrate Christmas? Is Christmas a pagan holiday? Is December 25 really the day Jesus was born? And if the Bible doesn’t command us to celebrate Christ’s birth, should we celebrate it at all? In the first episode of our Christmas series, we take a closer look at the history, traditions, and biblical questions surrounding Christmas. We explore common objections, including the holiday’s historical connections to pagan traditions, questions about the date of Jesus’ birth, and the history of Christmas celebrations becoming associated with drunkenness and excessive partying. We also discuss how Christmas was even banned in parts of New England until the 1800s. But the bigger question is: Why celebrate Christmas? While Scripture does not command Christians to celebrate Jesus’ birth on December 25—or forbid us from doing so—the Christmas season provides an important opportunity for biblical discipleship. The Bible gives us examples of God’s people remembering and teaching future generations about His great acts of salvation. In the same way, annual traditions can create opportunities for parents to intentionally point their children toward Christ. At the same time, we cannot ignore the cultural messages that surround Christmas. Movies, Santa, traditions, morality, gift-giving, and the commercialization of the season all communicate something to our children. So, rather than simply asking, “Should we celebrate Christmas?”, perhaps we should ask, “How can we use Christmas to point our families to Christ?” Join us as we examine Christmas through a biblical and historical lens and consider how Christian families can approach the Christmas season with purpose. Is Pop Culture Teaching Your Kids Postmodernism? | Jack Sparrow, Bart Simpson & Wednesday

What do Jack Sparrow, Bart Simpson, Wednesday Addams, and postmodern philosophy have in common? In this episode of Parenting on the Front Lines, Pastor David and the team explore how philosophical ideas—particularly the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche—can show up in modern pop culture and influence the way our children think about truth, morality, identity, and purpose. The episode examines Nietzsche’s famous statement “God is dead” and the idea that, without God as the source of truth and meaning, individuals must create their own values and determine their own purpose. The discussion then looks at characters such as: 🏴‍☠️ Jack Sparrow – A likable hero who repeatedly ignores conventional morality and lives according to his own desires. 📺 Bart Simpson – A rebellious character whose disobedience and disregard for authority are presented through humor and entertainment. 🖤 Wednesday Addams – A character who challenges social norms, embraces her individuality, and follows her own understanding of truth. The conversation also touches on Titanic, Stranger Things, social media, identity, anxiety, and the influence of postmodern thinking on today's culture. Most importantly, this episode challenges parents to do more than simply tell their children what to watch or avoid. Instead, parents can use the culture around them as opportunities to ask important questions: What does this story teach about truth? Where does morality come from? Who determines right and wrong? Where should we find our identity and purpose? How does this compare with what God's Word teaches? The goal is to help parents teach their children to think critically about the messages they encounter and continually point them back to God's Word as the source of truth, purpose, and wisdom. “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the ages for our glory.” — 1 Corinthians 2:7 Parenting on the Front Lines exists to equip and encourage parents to raise their children biblically in a hostile culture. 🎙️ Listen, think critically, and start the conversation with your kids. #ParentingOnTheFrontLines #ChristianParenting #BiblicalWorldview #Postmodernism #Nietzsche #PopCulture #ChristianParents #Parenting #BiblicalParenting #FaithAndCulture Parenting on the Frontlines equips moms and dads to lead their families with confidence, courage, and biblical conviction. Truth From Within? Marxism, Gender Ideology & the Christian Worldview

In this episode of Parenting on the Front Lines, we continue our series on postmodernism and examine how different philosophical ideas have influenced the culture our children are growing up in. We take a closer look at Karl Marx, Marxism, Critical Race Theory, and gender ideology, exploring the common philosophical thread that runs through these ideas: the question of whether truth comes from an objective source outside of ourselves or whether individuals and groups create their own meaning, identity, and truth. The conversation examines: • Karl Marx and the idea of religion as the “opiate of the masses” • The historical connection between Marxism, communism, and atheism • How Marxist ideas have influenced modern cultural movements • Critical Race Theory and the emphasis on oppressor and oppressed groups • The importance of personal responsibility and how victimhood can shape cultural thinking • How Christian students may encounter competing worldviews in college • Gender ideology and the question of objective truth • Why parents should teach their children why they believe what they believe • The importance of grounding our understanding of identity, purpose, and truth in Scripture Rather than simply telling our children what to reject, we discuss the importance of giving them a biblical foundation for understanding truth, identity, purpose, and the world around them. As parents, we need to prepare our children to recognize the ideas they will encounter in classrooms, entertainment, social media, and culture—and to evaluate those ideas through a biblical worldview. This is part of our ongoing series examining the philosophical ideas shaping our culture. Next episode: Nietzsche and the meaning behind the phrase “God is dead.” Parenting on the Front Lines seeks to equip and encourage parents to raise their children biblically in a hostile culture. #ParentingOnTheFrontLines #ChristianParenting #BiblicalWorldview #Postmodernism #Marxism #CriticalRaceTheory #GenderIdeology #ChristianParents #ChristianFamily #BiblicalParenting Parenting on the Frontlines equips moms and dads to lead their families with confidence, courage, and biblical conviction. “Follow your heart.” “Dream big.” “You can be anything you want to be.”

“Follow your heart.” “Dream big.” “You can be anything you want to be.” These messages are everywhere—but where did they come from, and what happens when our children are taught to make their feelings the ultimate authority? In this episode of Parenting on the Front Lines, we take a closer look at Disney's “When You Wish Upon a Star” and use the song as a starting point to explore Romanticism, postmodernism, subjective truth, and the biblical understanding of the human heart. Stories don't simply entertain our children. They can shape the way they imagine the world—and eventually influence what they believe. We'll explore why Scripture tells us to be careful about what influences our hearts and minds, and why Christians need to teach their children to distinguish between “my truth” and the objective truth found in God's Word. We'll also discuss: • Disney and the philosophy of Romanticism • “Follow your heart” versus biblical wisdom • How entertainment shapes children's worldview • Feelings versus objective truth • The heart as an “idol factory” • Why parents should discuss entertainment with their children • How to approach culture from a biblical worldview • Colossians 2:8 and the warning against deceptive philosophy “Your word is truth.” — John 17:17 Join us as we continue tracing the philosophies that have shaped our culture—and learn how parents can equip their children to recognize those ideas and evaluate them through Scripture. #ChristianParenting #Disney #BiblicalWorldview #ParentingOnTheFrontLines #Postmodernism #ChristianParents Parenting on the Frontlines equips moms and dads to lead their families with confidence, courage, and biblical conviction. God’s Wisdom vs. the Wisdom of This Age

God’s Wisdom vs. the Wisdom of This Age 1 Corinthians 2:6–7 What happens when we build our understanding of truth, identity, and purpose on the wisdom of the world rather than the wisdom of God? In this episode, we continue our discussion of the ideas that have shaped modern culture, including Friedrich Nietzsche and Karl Marx, and consider how those philosophies continue to influence the way people think about religion, identity, truth, and human flourishing today. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 2:6–7 that the wisdom of this age is not the ultimate wisdom. God’s wisdom was hidden from the world but revealed through Christ—a wisdom that was established before time began. We revisit Marx’s claim that “religion is the opium of the masses” and examine the idea that Christianity functions as a tool to keep oppressed people content with their circumstances. We then consider how Marxist thought has developed beyond traditional economic class categories and how similar frameworks can be seen in contemporary discussions surrounding gender ideology and Critical Race Theory. We also explore the growing pressure placed on individuals to create their own truth and identity and then project that identity onto the world. What happens when our beliefs are built around ourselves rather than our Creator? Could this help explain some of the anxiety and instability experienced by many people today? Ultimately, we look at the relationship between: Beliefs → Identity → Actions → Emotions When our beliefs are grounded in God’s truth, they provide a foundation for a healthy identity, purposeful action, and the peace and joy that come from living according to the way we were created. In this episode: 1 Corinthians 2:6–7 and the wisdom of God A recap of Nietzsche and modern cultural thought Karl Marx and the “opium of the masses” How Marxist ideas have expanded beyond economic class Gender ideology and Critical Race Theory The pressure to create our own truth Anxiety, identity, and the search for meaning Beliefs, identity, actions, and emotions Why biblical wisdom offers a better foundation Key Scripture: “No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.” — 1 Corinthians 2:7 #Christianity #BiblicalWorldview #ChristianPodcast #1Corinthians #KarlMarx #Nietzsche #Marxism #BiblicalWisdom #ChristianWorldview #Identity #Truth #Faith Parenting on the Frontlines equips moms and dads to lead their families with confidence, courage, and biblical conviction. Postmodernism: Truth, Meaning, and the World Around Us.

Postmodernism: Truth, Meaning, and the World Around Us. (S2E5) What happens when a culture stops believing that truth is something we discover and begins believing that truth is something we create? In this episode, we continue our conversation about the ideas that have shaped the modern and postmodern world. We explore postmodernism as a reaction to modernism, tracing the movement from the Romantic emphasis on the heart, personal experience, and individual freedom to the more radical postmodern rejection of objective truth, universal meaning, and absolute morality. From Ralph Waldo Emerson and the idea of “following your heart,” to popular stories like Pinocchio, Titanic, and Disney’s celebration of personal dreams, we examine how these ideas have become deeply embedded in our culture. We then take a closer look at more extreme postmodern thinking—including Nietzsche’s idea that we must make meaning—and the cultural fascination with the “transgressor as hero.” Characters like Jack Sparrow, Bart Simpson, and Wednesday Addams illustrate an interesting tension: even stories that celebrate rebellion still depend on moral standards such as loyalty, friendship, courage, and justice to tell us who the “good guys” are. Ultimately, the question isn't simply whether we live in a modern or postmodern world. How should Christians think about truth, meaning, morality, and identity in light of Scripture? Our goal isn't to retreat from the world around us, but to learn to recognize the ideas shaping our culture and evaluate them through a biblical worldview. In This Episode: What is postmodernism? How postmodernism developed as a reaction to modernism Romanticism and the emphasis on emotion and personal experience “Follow your heart” and the search for personal truth Ralph Waldo Emerson and nonconformity Nietzsche and the idea that we must create meaning The rejection of objective truth and universal morality The “transgressor as hero” in popular culture Jack Sparrow, Bart Simpson, and Wednesday Addams Why even rebellious stories depend on moral frameworks *Why Christians should pursue a biblical worldview 📖 Key Question: If truth, meaning, and morality aren't simply whatever we want them to be, where do they come from?
