    Walking Until We're Not Strangers | Series | 01

When we say "people from all walks of life," we mean it. INTRODUCING our Not Strangers series. For this new format, we leave the studio and meet people the old-fashioned way, by walking up and saying hello. Jason, Mila, Marotetini, Dominic, and Mukesh. Five chance encounters that show just how quickly someone can stop feeling like a stranger. These episodes are recorded exactly as they happen, so you'll hear traffic, footsteps and all the little moments that come with being out in the real world. We're working towards minimising background noise moving forward, but wanted to test this first go without restriction. As always, this episode is also available as a YouTube video, where you can see all the action. One of today's beautiful interviewees was so insightful, we invited them to the studio for a full episode. You'll hear that full conversation next week. My Ex Was Jailed for Coercive Control w/ Sammie

Sammie's ex became the first person in NSW to be jailed for coercive control. In this episode, she shares her powerful story, and gives us incredible insight into the realities of surviving in an abusive relationship. We get honest about: • How the relationship began, escalated, and ultimately led to Australia's first coercive control conviction in NSW • Why victims often return to abusive relationships, even when they know they should leave • Trauma bonds, how they form, and what it takes to break them • What family and friends saw from the outside, and how much was happening behind closed doors • Financial and sexual coercion, and why these forms of abuse are so often misunderstood • The difference between a healthy relationship and a coercively controlling one, even when the behaviours can look similar • Red flags to watch for in your own relationships and those around you Everything the relationship stole (and continues to steal) from her • Sam's reflections, and looking forward MENTIONS: Listen to Hannah's Story here: https://open.spotify.com/show/2O1apWsHd8nGSYPeOuGg4x?si=oXifyrzYR4KI89Svk_OjPA SUPPORT RESOURCES: Victims services counselling https://www.nsw.gov.au/legal-and-justice/information-for-victims-of-crime/victims-support-scheme/counselling Escaping violence payment About the Program leavingviolenceprogram.org.au Rent Choice Start safely NSW (search for your state's rental support) https://www.nsw.gov.au/departments-and-agencies/homes-nsw/social-housing-resources/rent-choice-start-safely 1800 RESPECT | Counselling and information service for people affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence LIFELINE | 13 11 14 | 24-hour telephone crisis support service in Australia BEYOND BLUE | 1300 22 4636 SHOWNOTES: Get amongst it: Instagram: @pathologicallyhonest TikTok: @pathologicallyhonest YouTube: Pathologically Honest Georgia: @god_worthy on all the things Sammie: @sammieejade0 Want to get Pathologically EVEN MORE Honest? My Driving Instructor Sees Dead People w/ Mark (my driving instructor)

It's always who you least expect. Georgia was worried she'd been oversharing her woo-woo ways with her driving instructor, Mark. Little did she know, he sees dead people, and has had the most goose-bump-inducing spiritual experiences. This is the PERFECT example of how pathological honesty leads to untapped human connection. In this episode, Mark shares decades of encounters with spirits, psychic experiences, messages from loved ones who have passed and the moment he was told he could choose whether to stay or leave. We chat: Family story and abilitiesMark's early experiencesNot looking too hard for signsNear-death experiencesChoosing to stay or goThe crazy prediction that came trueSpiritual stories SHOWNOTES: Get amongst it: Instagram: @pathologicallyhonest TikTok: @pathologicallyhonest YouTube: Pathologically Honest Georgia: @god_worthy on all the things Want to get Pathologically EVEN MORE Honest?
