    Grosse Pointe Michigan Historical Society... The Provencol Weir House

    Before asking whether the Provencal–Weir House is haunted, we need to know its story. In this episode of Into the Shadows, Don Alter explores the house’s history in Grosse Pointe Farms: the Provencal family, the children they cared for, the Weir family, and the moves and changes that shaped the house we see today. With a history spanning two centuries, could the house also hold paranormal activity? It may. Macomb Paranormal Investigations and Research has not investigated it yet, so that question remains open.     Stimson Hospital, Eaton Rapids, Michigan

    Before Macomb Paranormal Investigations and Research enters the former Stimson Hospital, we step back into its long and complicated history. Built as a private residence in the 1870s, the building was later transformed into the Harriet Chapman Hospital by nurse Harriet Chapman and Doctors Charles Stimson and Francis Blanchard. It became an important part of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, but its history also includes tragedy—most notably Doctor Blanchard’s fatal fall down the hospital’s elevator shaft in 1919. In this introductory episode, Don Alter examines the hospital’s documented history, local legends, reported deaths, and the paranormal experiences described by former residents, owners, visitors, and investigators. Reports include disembodied voices, footsteps, shadow figures, unexplained touching, strange equipment activity, children laughing, and a woman weeping on the second floor. On September 12, 2026, Don, Jake, and Jennifer will conduct an on-site paranormal investigation of Stimson Hospital and visit Rosehill Cemetery, where Doctor Charles Stimson is buried. A future live podcast will reveal what the team experienced, what their equipment recorded, what they could explain—and what may have remained unexplained.
