    Recap: Team USA Erases 14-Point Deficit, Beats France to Win Fifth Straight World Cup Gold Medal

    Team USA completed a huge comeback to beat France 97-79 in the FIBA Women’s World Cup championship game and claim its fifth consecutive gold medal. They fell behind by 14 in the first half after France used a 16-0 run, but they responded before halftime. Angel Reese forced a turnover that led to a Caitlin Clark 3-pointer at the buzzer, cutting the deficit to 45-43. From there, Team USA took over. The Americans opened the second half on an 11-2 run and outscored France 30-12 in the third quarter to seize control. Breanna Stewart led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Jackie Young added 18 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Clark scored 12 points and Aliyah Boston added seven.     Recap: Team USA Survives Spain, Reaches World Cup Final — Offense Still Looks Disjointed

    Team USA is headed to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup championship game after beating Spain 76-66 in Saturday’s semifinal. They overcame another slow start and led by just three at halftime. Neither team shot 40% from the field, and Team USA went only 3 of 18 from 3-point range, but its defense and free-throw shooting carried the day. The Americans made 27 of 35 free throws and held Spain in check enough late to win by double digits. Breanna Stewart led the way with 16 points and six rebounds in 29 minutes. Aliyah Boston added six points and seven rebounds and played important minutes late, while Caitlin Clark was limited to one point and one assist in 17 minutes after leading Team USA in minutes in each of its previous games. Team USA finished with more turnovers (15) than assists (13) and still look disconnected offensively outside of a few strong stretches. Napheesa Collier was the Player of the Game after finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds.     Recap: Clark named Player of the Game in World Cup Debut as Team USA Rolls Past China

    Team USA opened FIBA Women’s World Cup group play with a dominant 94-61 win over China, getting contributions throughout its deep roster. Making her World Cup debut, Caitlin Clark came off the bench and was named Player of the Game after finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds.     The Fever closed out the first portion of their season in emphatic fashion, beating the Connecticut Sun 111-91 in the franchise’s final visit to Indianapolis before relocating to Houston next season. Indiana trailed by nine after the first quarter, then exploded for 39 points in the second to take control. Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell each scored 34 points — the fourth time they’ve both reached 30 in the same game and the second game in a row they’ve done it. Mitchell extended her WNBA-record streak to 24 consecutive games with at least 20 points, while Clark recorded her fifth game this season with 30+ points and 10+ assists. The Fever enter the World Cup break 26-14 and fourth in the WNBA standings.     The Indiana Fever never trailed in a 101-95 win over the Toronto Tempo, making their first trip north of the border a successful one. Kelsey Mitchell scored 16 of her game-high 29 points in the first quarter before heading back to the locker room in the fourth, apparently overheated inside a sweltering Scotiabank Arena. Several players complained about the temperature as a sellout crowd of 19,300 watched Toronto lose its 11th straight game.
