041 Why Do Husbands and Dads Struggle With Temptation—Even When They Know It’s Wrong?

Husbands and dads, Why do we often justify our choices in the moment, even when we know they go against what is right?  What areas of your life are you most vulnerable to temptation, and are your daily choices helping you overcome or making you more vulnerable? Could the biggest battle with temptation be less about the temptation itself and more about what you believe about God, yourself, and what you need? Many husbands and dads struggle with temptation even when they already know what is right, but the battle is often deeper than the temptation itself—it involves what we believe about God, ourselves, and what we truly need. In this episode, Glenn explains how temptation works, why the enemy tries to create doubt about God’s goodness, and how those lies can lead us to justify choices we know are wrong. You’ll discover why the cravings of the flesh can become louder than the truth we already know and how renewing our minds through God’s Word helps us fight the battle differently. Through the examples of Adam and Eve and Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness, this episode shows that temptation is a real struggle—but one we can face through a deeper relationship with God and His truth. Learn how to recognize temptation, remove unnecessary opportunities for failure, and draw near to God so you can lead yourself, your marriage, and your family with greater integrity and confidence. 039 Why Husbands and Dads Keep Reacting Instead of Responding—How One Daily Discipline Builds Self-Control

Men, Do you ever feel like you’re just reacting to whatever life throws at you instead of intentionally leading your day? Are you allowing your circumstances to set the tone for your day, or are you intentionally setting the tone before challenges arrive? Does your day feel out of control and that you’re just along for the ride? Many husbands and dads feel like they are constantly reacting to the pressures of life instead of intentionally leading their day with wisdom and self-control. In this episode, Glenn explains how a simple structure and daily discipline can create space for God to shape your thoughts, emotions, and decisions before challenges arrive. You’ll discover why starting your day with God is not about checking a religious box, but about training your soul and renewing your mind so you can respond with patience, wisdom, and love when pressure comes. Learn how simple rhythms like spending time in Scripture, prayer, and preparing your mind can help you stop being controlled by circumstances and begin leading yourself, your marriage, and your family well. Structure does not restrict your freedom—it positions you to live in the freedom God has already given you by helping you respond instead of react. Many husbands and dads feel trapped fighting the same battles—repeating the same mistakes, carrying guilt from the past, and wondering if they can ever truly change. You’ll discover how changing the core belief from -God’s love must be earned to God loves you no matter what, can transform the way you see yourself, your marriage, and your ability to lead your family well. 037 When Guilt Keeps You Trapped in the Past—How Insecurity Affects Your Marriage

Gentlemen, Are you using “I'm just a sinner” as an explanation for behavior that God is actually calling you to change? When you look at yourself, do you see a sinner who is barely acceptable to God, or a son who has been made righteous through Christ? What would change in your marriage if you stopped seeing yourself as a condemned man and started living like a man who has been set free? Many men struggle to move forward because they continue seeing themselves through the lens of past mistakes, failures, and guilt instead of the identity they have received through Christ. In this episode, Glenn explains how living under condemnation can create insecurity, impact your marriage, and keep you from confidently leading your family well. You’ll learn the difference between seeing yourself as a sinner trying to earn God’s approval versus a son of God who has been made righteous through Christ. Discover how renewing your mind with God’s truth allows you to break free from guilt, embrace your identity in Christ, and begin living from a place of freedom instead of shame and condemnation. As your identity becomes anchored in Jesus, your marriage, relationships, and leadership can begin to transform because you are no longer defined by your past. 036 What Are You Trying to Prove?—How Insecurity Distorts Masculinity in Marriage

Men, Do you believe that being in control, always being right, and having to be respected is strong masculinity? What are you trying to prove to your wife, your children, or other people? Do you wear a mask so people don’t know the real you? Insecurity can cause men to hide behind a false version of masculinity, constantly trying to prove they’re strong, right, respected, successful, or in control. In this episode, we look at how an insecure identity can distort masculinity in marriage, turning strength into control, leadership into domination, confidence into arrogance, and provision into performance. True biblical masculinity begins when a man stops measuring his worth by approval, accomplishments, or circumstances and anchors his identity in Christ. When you become secure in who God created you to be, you can admit when you’re wrong, listen to your wife, receive correction, and serve your family without feeling weak or threatened. This kind of servant leadership allows husbands and fathers to stop trying to prove their masculinity and start leading their marriage and family from the identity and strength God provides. 035 When Your Wife Says, “I Feel Alone”—Does Insecurity Make You Defensive?

Guys, What are you afraid your wife will believe about you when she says, “I feel alone”? When you’re defensive, what might that reaction be revealing about what you believe about your worth? Why do you feel defensive so often by your wife’s words? When your wife says, “I feel alone,” your defensiveness may reveal more about your own insecurity and identity than about what she actually said. Insecurity can distort how you hear your wife, causing you to interpret her words as criticism or evidence that you're failing rather than listening for what she is really trying to communicate. Your emotions can indicate that something is wrong, but they don't tell you exactly what the problem is or excuse a defensive reaction. The way forward is to anchor your worth in Jesus, continually renew your mind with God's truth, and recognize that your value isn't determined by what your wife—or anyone else—thinks of you. When you are secure in your identity in Christ, you can slow down, ask “Help me understand,” listen to her heart, and lead your marriage from security rather than insecurity.  Next Steps: - Step 1: Join a supportive community of like-minded men at my Facebook group Becoming Men Who Lead Well. - Step 2: Become an Insider.
