Instead of "what if" consider "what could be"

In this episode A Wes Craven audition that ended in a standing ovation. Early in his career, Kevin walked in to read for a tough-guy part, and the director stopped him cold with a comment that made him furious. Instead of walking out, he put every bit of that anger into the work. The director stood up and applauded. What it taught him about honesty on camera is the thing he now passes on to every actor he coaches. We will let him tell it. Kevin Scott Allen was pulled onto a film set as a boy and has worked for more than forty years since, from early television to the recent series American Primeval. This week he talks about playing Luke in S.M.P. Rise's short film Clean Future, and what the film taught him about the cost of living in "what if." Kevin Scott Allen has spent more than forty years in film and television, often in drama, crime, sci-fi, and thrillers, including the recent series American Primeval. Sent to boarding school in Switzerland at ten, he first stepped in front of a camera as a boy, pulled from the sidelines of a Western being shot in New Mexico. He is also an author and acting coach, and his book, Conquering the Film and Television Audition, has reached students around the world. In Clean Future, an S.M.P. Rise short film, he plays Luke, a man gripped by what he stands to lose. Kevin talks about what drew him to the project, building the role with director Stanley and with Fay Kato, who plays his wife, and why the film's real subject, the cost of living in "what if," hit so close to home.
